I would hazard a guess that the new mechanic is "This big, rare, elite is immune to CC so your fancy frost trap won't work on me and if you lose threat, well, if I don't listen to you when we first meet how do you expect me to listen to you later, but if you don't have someone taunt off you're gonna die a terrible, terrible death."

As a non-hunter, I would be amused watching hunters go out of their way to kill themselves.
