Patch 4.2: Video of Mylune's Call and new vanity pet animations
The video above also includes animations for three of the new vanity pets available in 4.2: Nuts' the Squirrel, Brilliant Kaliri, and Celestial Dragon. All are special rewards for non-combat pet collectors, available only by collecting 100, 125, and 150 pets respectively.
It's really cool to see Blizzard including not just new pets, but new pets with stupid-cool animations. I especially like the Celestial Dragon, a sparkle pony-esque pet that darts around wildly, leaving trails of light in its wake. Awesome.
The news is already rolling out for the upcoming WoW Patch 4.2! Preview the new Firelands raid, marvel at the new legendary staff, and get the inside scoop on new quest hubs -- plus new Tier 12 armor!Filed under: News items

I hope that they still give you the pet biscuits along side the pets. (knowing how it is though, probably not)
I also don't understand why some of these items have such an absurd cd on them. 10 or 30min seems more reasonable than an hour : /

Makes it harder for oh say 150 people to gather together and use it all at once forcing everyone within the area to render seemingly very complicated effect

"buy it from a vendor. For 2,800 gold. (Ouch.)"
So, so very worth it. I just hope it's usable indoors so I can drop it once each raid.

^^^^^^^^^^ agree.
That is, if I have any gold left after the Legendary Staff assembly :(

I've never been a real vanity pet guy, but I WANT THAT DRAGON SO BAD. Time to start collecting.

I'm feeling a lot better about the Celestial Dragon pet now that I've seen it floating and zipping around. :D

He reminds me of Mushu, from Mulan. The Spirit of Competition from the Olympics, while using the same skin, somehow doesn't make the same connection for me.

Nuts and Celestrial Dragon will be instantly Nerffed so they do nothing after Forums explode with QQ about how annoying the pets are.
This is easy to predict, EVERYTHING annoys WOW players.

2800g is not really an 'ouch' after 16000 in Wrath and the rampant profit and inflation since then.

Only a 50 minute cooldown on Mylune's Call? There are several less... flashy items that have shorter durations and get hours long cooldowns. I really don't get how devs decide these things.

A very similar effect is already in the game on a 5 min CD for every resto druid out there.
Just pop Tree of Life and idle.

Thank you for adding to my virtual Beanie Baby collection, Blizz! I always liked my Spirit of Competition dragon and will now love his Sparkleboots brother :D

The next time I hear someone kvetching about Blizzard not supporting RP, I'm gonna punch them right in the nose with Mylune's Call..... holy monkeypoops that is AWESOME.
Ringo Flinthammer Jun 1st 2011 7:39PM
Every druid RPer in the game will get that -- and it'll be awesome.

I never thought I'd see a non-combat pet that was more hyper than Egbert the baby hawkstrider. But that dragon...
Revynn Jun 1st 2011 6:53PM
Why must they tease me by doing the video with a NElf in Warlock tier? The blindfold is sick, too.
Assuming that putting together my Legendary doesn't drain me of every copper I have, I am so buying Mylune's call.

Does anyone know a good pet collectors guide or addon?
I'm up to 135 pets, and I can't find anymore that aren't TCG, promotional or event types.

Take a look through there - it's a complete listing of all the companion pets in the game. Considering how much people on Wowhead love to talk about the game, there's sure to be something in the comments of each one for how to get the pet. Good luck!

Warcraftpets.com
Has everything you will ever need for information on non-combat pets. You can even track your collection.

Credit for quite possibly the best comment ever about Mylune's Call goes to Hyperlynx on the linked Wowhead page:
"This is what happens when you fart in Tree Form."
...but seriously, I'm getting that thing for my fire mage. Because there's something special about having happy little forest creatures frolic about you while you set something on fire and make it explode. ^_^
