The Queue: How much does a GM make?
So, I hate planking. I think it's just dumb. The internet has made lying down special and that's really just strange.
I mean I plank every night, in my bed.
Big deal.
Blakepirtle asked:
I've always wondered what a GM's average salary was. Any insight?
Around $25,000 a year. Could be a bit more on average, but that's the ballpark. Of course, there are also special individual cases, I'm sure, where that number is smaller or larger.
Merbus asked:
Where do you go for advanced theory crafting info?
I'm a big fan of getting my information from multiple sources. (I'll note that this is something all the editors feel strongly about. We try to be as inclusive as possible with the community, because the best players are formed by reading everything, not just one site.) I read the class columns here, I read the EJ forums extensively, I use Wowpedia as much as I can, I wade through Something Awful, and I take a look at the comments on spells/abilities on Wowhead.
I don't really do the forums much anymore. I used to read them every day, but I just can't anymore. There's also a decrease in the quality of posts since Ghostcrawler quit posting, so I don't really waste my time there when I can read more on EJ.
Tagegould asked:
What does Blizzard do during maintenance and rolling restarts?
While we don't (and likely never will) have the full picture, we do know that Blizzard actually restarts all its game servers, clears certain caches, rebuilds others, and implements fixes on the server side of things. My unofficial understanding is that it pretty much has a batch of changes server-side every week. It might be something as simple as a low-level monster doing too much damage or as complex as a hard mode raid encounter not tuned right.
We don't always hear about these fixes, either. Sometimes Blizzard releases a quick note; other times, they just happen. It's kind of a mystery, really.
Summelsam asked:
In patch 4.2, will valor point be awarded in current raid's heroic mode or really only in Fireland raids?
Updated: Valor points will be rewarded for the current tier's heroic mode content, and both normal and heroic modes for Firelands content.
Jedsblog asked:
How come Arator (son of Turalyon and Alleria) was not mentioned in the books or even in Wrath/Cataclysm?
For some of these outlying characters, it can be hit or miss if they're mentioned or if we see their lore updated. There are tons of characters like this; WoW is just too large to be able to do them all justice.

I believe VP will still be rewarded from Heroic Tier 11 raids, atleast last I heard.
Aalokor Jun 1st 2011 11:13AM
That would make absolutely 0 sense, never before have you been able to obtain current-tier raiding gear by running prior tier raids.
especially given the fact that nearly every normal mode encounter is being nerfed by about 20%
Kesh Jun 1st 2011 11:16AM
You sir are correct, you will still get valor from heroic t11 raids, but only just on normal.
Paul Tanner Jun 1st 2011 11:17AM
Valor points will be awarded from tier 11 heroic modes and fireland raids. The nerfs only apply to
normal modes which will drop justice points.
Tural Jun 1st 2011 11:16AM
Normal is being nerfed. Heroic isn't. Heroic T11 still gives Valor.

There was a Blue post a few days ago that said normal T11 raid bosses would drop JP because of the accessibility nerf and that Heroic modes will still drop VP because they weren't being hit with the 20% nerf.
adamjgp Jun 1st 2011 11:23AM
He specifically mentioned HEROIC raids, not regular raids.
As an aside the iLevel from current tier heroic raids is 372 and the ilevel from regular Firelands is 378. It seems that current tier heroic will be usable through firelands raiding, at least until you get an upgrade.
Has there been any mention of the number of VPs current tier heroic bosses will drop vs. the number of VPs regular firelands bosses will drop?
MysticalOS Jun 1st 2011 11:27AM
have to realize that even assuming 25 man 90 VP bonus, you cannot cap off 7 bosses every week. many guilds will continue to do sinestra for shard of woe as well so you could get a decent 12 boss spread to cap VP doing BoT and firelands together and the 2 bosses in baradin hold.
jfofla Jun 1st 2011 11:38AM
That is correct. We have 21 bosses that drop Valor in 4.2.
7 in Firelands
13 Tier 11 Heroics

Blizzard learned the lesson of Ulduar

Honestly, expect this to happen from now on in the future. I read somewhere (and sorry, I cannot remember where, probably here on WoW Insider) that Blizzard regrets only having one raid at the launch of the expac. They like the idea of having a "Beginners' Raid (which would be current T11) and an "Advanced" raid (T12) at the same time.
Homeschool Jun 1st 2011 1:04PM
You got it, Leroy. The normal mode of T11 will award Justice Points, but the heroic mode of T11 will still award Valor. (A tip of the hat to the difficulty and the relative minority of people who've downed any of these.)

Planking? What? Pfff, naw man. Nobody planks anymore! The new thing is topping.

Were pirates upset with this new trend? Making a mockery of their line of work?

I'm just mad at Adam for exposing me to the existence of this ridiculous crap. :(
inthedark Jun 1st 2011 11:25AM
