Breakfast Topic: Where do you play WoW?

But at night, it's a different story. I like to be around my fiancée, hanging out and watching some TV, and so on ... But I also like to be doing mindless things in game to power up my toons -- questing, fishing, gathering ... the usual. Archaeology is numbingly boring to me unless I have something else on (I recently rewatched all of Cosmos while going from 1 to 525 in archaeology). And for that mindless playing, it's all about loading up WoW on my laptop and sitting on my ridiculously comfortable chair.
For serious gameplay, however, it's back into the office for me (also sitting on a ridiculously comfortable chair). I'm not a fan of raiding on a laptop unless absolutely necessary.
So where do you, dear reader, play WoW? Sit out in the living room with the missus (or mister), or do you go in your (wo)man cave and yell for Hot Pockets?

I play in my garage so that I can smoke while I play since we don't smoke in my house. Got a spare fridge out here to hold my beer close by also.
Noyou Jun 6th 2011 8:15AM
That's fricken awesome. Except for the smoking but hey- you are the king of your own domain. I am the king of my basement and am so as long as no one comes down. I should make a spare room into my office but people tend to think they can bug you more when less steps are involved. If I had the money I would totally sound proof one of the rooms down here and lock the door :p Now keep in mind I am above average when it comes to socializing but my wow time is my time :)

I wish I could do that :/.

Studies have shown that cigarette smoke is bad for your computers health.
The more you know.

I have an enormous monolith of a desk that takes up way, way too much space in my apartment's living room. ^_^ But that's where I play WoW. It's also where I write, where I make videos, and where I keep in touch with friends, so it's all good.

Comsmos FTW. Carl literally changed my life.
And I play on our laptop on the couch and my wife on our desktop across the room. Never play alone :-)

It's the cat that draws the eye. How happy it looks!

No gaming station is complete without a keyboard cat!

Mine likes to sit on my mouse when I'm not looking, usually regardless of if it's already under my hand or not. :P

Loving the South Park reference!
I play in my office area, as it's where my PC is to be found. I used to try to play on the laptop, sharing time with my wife, but then she decided she wanted to use the laptop and sent me back to my PC.

My ridiculously OP work laptop (8 core / 8GB / ATI Radeon / 400GB drive) sits in my home docking station with a MS Natural keyboard, high-res mouse and 23-inch 1080p monitor. I have all the sliders at somewhere between "good" and max, and still get a consistent 50-60 fps.
The dock is on my desk, which is in a corner of the living room. So anything where I've got to be on Vent, such as raiding, has to take place after the kids are in bed or else there'd be a lot of background noise.

I used to sit, hunched over my desk, staring at my monitor. Uncomfortable chair and my back hurt. Wifey bought me a 32 inch tv; vga/hdmi to dvi capatable for my man cave. Ever since, the tv's been my monitor (even tho I have to put the font size for chat to it's highest in WoW), as I sit in my recliner a few feet away from the tv. I have a 3ft. x 1 ft. board across the arms of my chair; just the right size for my keyboard and mouse, with room to move. It's a very nice set up. That's where I play.

is there anyone NOT running a double monitor setup these days? /cry im using my laptop for WoW and everything else, jealous ^ ^
Tricia Jun 6th 2011 8:35AM
I don't run a double monitor setup, but I'm pretty casual overall, as a player. I think if I let him, my husband would have double televisions though. :)
lsprof4 Jun 6th 2011 4:37PM
Not a computer whiz, admittedly... what does the double monitor setup help with?
EaterOfBirds Jun 7th 2011 12:13PM
@isprof4 means you can have WoW on one window and watch powerpuff girls in another. ive spent the last few years listening to everything i watch on the pc while doing dailies etc QQ

I sit on my couch, play on my 55" LCD TV using wireless keyboard/mouse. Took a little getting used to, but now I couldn't imagine playing on a desktop again.
Aticus Jun 6th 2011 8:32AM
I use my laptop to play. I really enjoy going out on the back patio with it. Plus, when in the winter, I can hook it up to the 52 inch :)

I live alone in a small apartment, so my desktop and 3 monitors stay in the living room. I have a laptop that I play on too, but it stays at my office most of the time since it's fairly large and beefy (19in gaming laptop).
