Breakfast Topic: What memorial would you leave behind in WoW?

"What, like an item?"
"Maybe, but not necessarily." I cursed under my breath as Halazzi dropped another lightning totem. "Like the Jar of Ashes. Just some cool thing in the world that would let people who played the game after you know you were there."
"I've always wanted them to put in a hair shirt for me."
"Funny." She made a face at me and I went back to tanking. But now that I've had time to think about it, it's a fair question. I've always loved the crypt in the Badlands -- probably due to my being a huge Robert E. Howard fan, but still, having a set of tier 2 armor on a stand in there with my character's name on it would be pretty much the best thing I could imagine. Failing that, stick my name on a revamped Drake Talon Cleaver.
So how about you? What would you do if you could ask the devs to immortalize you in game?

A little plushy of my character when i finally stop playing. In what ever gear he has one. Just so i can give it to my son and tell him what i did before he was born and that daddy killed dragons :P

Fairy tales do not tell children the dragons exist. Children already know that dragons exist. Fairy tales tell children the dragons can be killed.

I would want an animal named after me. Something that hunters could tame, so I could fight alongside future raids. A special wolf or dog would be best, because i've dedicated most of my life to understanding and helping dogs.
MusedMoose Jun 7th 2011 8:12AM
I just wanted to say that's really cool. ^_^

For me it would be a Kitty. I would love this kind of Memorial. :)

I'd want an NPC of myself who complained about "how easy kids have it nowadays, not like back in the old days when you had to run for 15 minutes to get to another zone. None of this flying around wherever you wanted! And if a boss needed taking down, you had to round up another 39 players. Good players mind! Ones that knew their class."
He'd also give out quests to fetch his medicine, try to milk a tauren and make a rude gesture at Garrosh.
Straz Jun 7th 2011 9:25AM
You'd need to be standing next to an NPC that accuses you of lying because nobody that was around in the good old days liked the good old days! Just to please the trolls.
chaosdefined Jun 7th 2011 10:21AM
In that case, my NPC would be an Undead (old and decrepit) and the NPC next to me would have to be...a troll!

Best answer, hands down. Made me ROFL.

I think it would depend on what character got the memorial. For my hunter, it would have to be a "Wanted" poster of him, only showing up after he's left Azeroth, because I've done just about every bounty-hunting quest I could with him, and having him be an uncatchable bounty would be pretty cool. For my healer, it would have to be a statue of her and her totems, but it would play Queen's "Keep Yourself Alive" when you clicked on it, because I find myself singing that song every time I heal. ^_^
As for my fire mage, all they really need to do is pile up all the charred skeletons she's created and use them for charcoal. It'd be a BBQ the size of Karazhan, and that's a good memorial for her.

The Fletcher Memorial Reflecting Pool. It'd be a large flooded crater straddling the border between Durotar and Azshara.

Or ... hmm ... one's *character*. I have so many!
For my paladin, an honest-to-goodness two-hand mace that actually looks like it belongs on a paladin.
For my nelf rogue, the occupied grave of Tyrande Whisperwind, bearing the legend "Tyrande Whisperwind, traitor and accursed. She has paid for setting Illidan free." Or a class trainer named after her if we ever get a Warden or Demon Hunter hero class.
For my gnome mage, perhaps a statue in a corner somewhere if we ever actually retake Gnomeregan (wearing Alliance tier nine mage gear). Clicking on the statue will buff you with Arcane Brilliance.
For my nelf spriest, a temple tucked away somewhere dedicated to the new moon, the dark face of Elune, with a night elven (shadow) priest trainer. Perhaps in the mountains above Desolace.
For my dwarf shammy, a stormhammer; a one-handed agi mace, melee hits give a stacking damage buff, when the buff reaches a certain value it does X amount of nature damage and the buff counter resets.
For my blood elf DK, a mausoleum somewhere in Eversong Woods.
For my undead spriest, a staff that drops from Sylvanas in the Undercity raid.
For my undead rogue, an engineering trainer named after her ... piloting a zeppelin on a semirandom route through the skies of Lordaeron. It wouldn't stop anywhere, but if you could find it you'd be rewarded with crazy engineering goodies, like a mechagnome disguise or something.
And for my worgen warrior, an unkillable elite NPC named after him, roaming Silverpine Forest at will and one-shotting Horde players. Perhaps in full Wrathful PVP gear, I like the design of that one. Move over, Son of Arugal!

Not necessarily for myself, but rather my previous partner I'd ask for a compass that glowed in the dark. Because he was always there to guide me and was my light in shadowy places.

I would like to leave a sword in the ground. However, I want the area where my sword is stuck in the ground to have a ton of gnome ghosts walking around to represent the many gnomes I have slaughtered.
Then when you get back to your body and rez; they disappear, and all you can see is my sword.
Castianna Jun 7th 2011 8:27AM
On my server there is a particular corner in Stormwind that I am known for occupying. I log all my toons in and out there and people have come to expect me to be there. In fact, it has gotten to the point where if a stranger is there, they will sometimes gets PSTs "Casti? new toon?"
Either way, I think an appropriate memorial would be an Elder's Moonstone beam right on my corner :)
AudreyR Jun 7th 2011 8:29AM
Given that I like to jump off things without a parachute, I'd say a "crater".
Yep. Just give me a hole in the ground when I die.
Demeternoth Jun 7th 2011 8:30AM
Since my main is retired from raiding, I made up a bit of a story that she's working on a farm in North Stormwind so I'd like her to wander round Stormwind selling 'Stormwind Farmers Produce'.
MattKrotzer Jun 7th 2011 8:32AM
I'd like an epic shield named after my warrior. Or a subsection of rebuilt Gnomeregan named after my gnome rogue.
Neyssa Jun 7th 2011 8:33AM
I would love to see a forest as a memorial for all the tree druids before cataclysm. When you would walk in the forest, the trees would occasionally toss a regrowth or a rejuvenation on you.
Castianna Jun 7th 2011 9:26AM
This. is. awesome.
