Patch 4.2: No justice points over the cap, more info soon

In our daily Q&A column, The Queue, it's our most-asked question by far.
Bashiok provided a little clarification today in the form of these two comments.
No, Justice isn't removed. You'd want to spend Valor before 4.2 hits if you're going to convert over the 4k cap.
We have a blog post planned that goes into it a bit more we'll be posting this week.

The key thing to take away here is that if you're not going to be allowed to have more than 4,000 JP when patch 4.2 drops. It appears, although is not explicitly stated, that valor points will be converted to justice points, as long as you have no more than 4,000 justice points. Extra valor points after that will be lost.
The news is already rolling out for the upcoming WoW Patch 4.2! Preview the new Firelands raid, marvel at the new legendary staff, and get the inside scoop on new quest hubs -- plus new Tier 12 armor!Filed under: News items

I can understand why they doing this but I can also understand why the community is going to have enough babies to fill Noah's ark twice over.
I'll reserve my opinion until we get more details.

Ground for more babies: head and shoulder slots will still require tier tokens

Agreed on the tier tokens. Otherwise I really do support the way Blizzard is handling gear progression, this system is light years better than BC and Wrath. I just think letting tier tokens decay into purchasable stuff - either through valor or very very high justice costs - would be a nice improvement.

I think it's a good idea to keep the shoulders/helm "token required."
One of the more common complaints in Wrath was that Naxx/Ulduar/ToC (mostly Ulduar) were made "irrelevant" by the new tiers. No one had any reason to run them any more. Leaving the shoulders/helm as only obtainable from the actual instances gives at least some minor reason to get a group together to run the "old" raids. This is a good thing.
My second reason for liking this is, well, perhaps a tad bit elitist. Overall, I like the points/badges system. It's a spectacular way to gear up an alt or new raider without having to run them through the old tiers. A new or returning player can gear up by themselves through 5-mans. Justice points will get them "up to speed." This also allows players who are unable to raid to get some gear increases. That's a good thing. I am perfectly happy to support that. But...I do think that the full 4-set bonuses should be "raiding restricted." You can fill all these other slots (well...most of 'em) outside of raiding, but to finish it off and get that 4-piece bonus, you should get it out of a raid. I think that's reasonable. It's a good balance.

It only added to the drama.

What about conquest points? I'm thinking of converting my valor points to conquest.
Tyson Jun 7th 2011 1:14PM
Yeah I'm wondering this too, if there isn't a change from Conquest to Honor it might be worth just pumping all our Valor into conquest points.
Skarn Jun 7th 2011 5:24PM
Expect your Conquest total to become 0 and any Conquest points to become Honor points. This is highly likely the way it will work. Just as they don't want people to store up Valor and buy the new raid stuff right away, they don't want you to store Conquest and buy the new Season stuff right away.

on mmo-champ there's a post covering this:
- when arena season finishes ("soon") CP will turn to HP, possibly bringing you over HP cap, so any further HP you gain during this period where you have over 4k will be lost.
- when the next season starts (1 week later), HP will be trimmed back to 4k, and all the lost HP will convert to gold. This is when the gear change happens too, so you can't bank more than 4k HP to buy gear that's moving from CP to HP

I guess it's official. This from Blizzard's web site:
Note: There's no benefit to hoarding large amounts of Conquest Points since they'll be converted into Honor (or Justice Points, for Valor) when the next tier of items becomes available, and there are no plans to extend the 4,000 point cap on the lower-tier currencies. That conversion is still rather far in the future, though, and we plan to provide plenty of advance warning before it happens. In the meantime, feel free to purchase items you want as soon as you can afford them.

What I am doing is stashing some extra JP as Honor, sure you lose some in the conversions, but something is better than nothing. Take that blizz!
Nina Katarina Jun 7th 2011 1:31PM
You, sir, are brilliant.
(runs off to convert JP to honor)
EaterOfBirds Jun 7th 2011 2:41PM
ive been doing the same, but just cause i want some pvp gear, rather than with this brilliant reasoning. good show old bean.
