Patch 4.2 PTR updates for June 7

Another interesting point of fact is that during the valor point conversion for the new tier of raiding, all existing justice points above the 4,000 point cap will be turned into 47 silver per point. Any valor points you had will be reset to zero and will either be added to your justice point totals or turned into silver, depending on how much overage you have. All in all, it will be nice to see how the first point reset works. I am a big fan of point resets and am glad Blizzard went this route with the new point system
Hit the jump for all of the changes.

New Daily Quests Available
- A large assortment of all-new daily quests and rewards are now available in Hyjal, where players can help the Guardians of Hyjal push back the allies of Ragnaros and establish a forward operating base in the Firelands. In order to partake in the Regrowth and Molten Front daily quests, players must have at least completed up to and including the quest Aessina's Miracle. Once this quest has been completed, players should speak with Matoclaw in the Sanctuary of Malorne to take part in the Regrowth efforts.
- All existing Valor Points in the Currency tab have been converted to Justice Points. Any points above the Justice Point cap will be converted into gold at a rate of 47 silver per point and mailed to characters.
-
Zul'Gurub
- All cauldron buffs are now usable while mounted.
- High Priest Kilnara's death now turns off the flaming tiki mask gauntlet.
- High Priest Venoxis's death now removes the poison from the plants at the start of the dungeon.
Professions
-
Engineering
- D.E.H.T.A. has recently placed a great number of critters under their protection, especially rabbits and squirrels. Because of this, Flintlocke's Woodchucker has been re-fitted to use wild chickens until an "agreement" can be reached.
-
Battlegrounds
- Warsong Gulch has been added back into the Rated Battleground rotation.
-
Gladiator Weapons
- Season 10 Conquest Point weapons will only be purchasable once a required minimum sum of Conquest Points has been reached during the current season. For example, Ruthless Gladiator's Pike costs 3400 Conquest Points to purchase. However, players must first earn a total of 11650 Conquest Points during Season 10 before they are able to purchase it.
- Season 9 Honor Point weapons will only be purchasable once a required minimum sum of Honor Points has been reached during the current season. For example, Vicious Gladiator's Pike costs 3400 Honor Points to purchase. However, players must first earn a total of 18500 Honor Points during Season 10 before they are able to purchase it.
- Once the minimum sum of points required to purchase weapons is reached, all available weapons can be purchased for their listed costs. The point requirement is not reset once a purchase is made.
- Weapon tooltips from the vendor will let players know how many more Conquest or Honor Points must be earned in the current season before the item can be purchased.
Death Knight
-
Frost
- Might of the Frozen Wastes now increases two-handed weapon damage by 3/7/10%, down from 4/8/12%.

I have to wonder why Blizz thought changing the ammo of the woodchucker was actually important.

a legal issue with the source of Flintlocke's comic (the source material) - most likely the legal department is trying to help the designers walk the fine line between homage and "ripping off" the comic.
RetPallyJil Jun 8th 2011 10:30AM
Wait, so a web comic creator that deliberately rips off Blizzard's source material for his own work is bitching because Blizzard decided to honor his efforts in-game?
What the fuck dude - go read yesterday's thread on "How would you like to be honored in WoW?" You're luckier than most, so sit down and shut the hell up.

I thought Fargo **worked** for Blizzard now. I would have thought the Flintlocke references would have involved him in some way to begin with.
Ah well, I'm no lawyer and there may be tons of legal issues I never conceived of which are in play.

Turning off the fire gaunlet isn't all that useful or convenient.
If my ZG group wipes on Priestess Kilnara we usually will take the 2-bridge short-cut to not only avoid the fire tiki gaunlet but also avoid going the long way around. We can ignore Gub, Destroyer of FIsh, if we want because he leashes back to his spawn point.
We then kill the group of snakes that we would need to clear before Zanzil anyway. And hopefully no one gets close enough to the 3-troll trash mobs around the poison cauldron just to the right of the last bridge.
So even in a wipetastic ZG, I've never had to go thru the fire gaunlet more than once.

Hehe - they should start calling it the Glyph of Soul Stop. Maybe they want to drive the warlock representation under 4%?
kdiddy Jun 8th 2011 12:32PM
So, will they ever stop nerfing pve for the sake of pvp? I think they seriously need to take a look at somehow separating damage vs. environmet and damage vs. players. Maybe this is their nice way of saying frost is meant to be played in frost presence only. It's not like DKs are OP in raids. I guess I'll just roll with punches.
thebitterfig Jun 8th 2011 12:48PM
I haven't followed Frost DK too closely of late, but it could easily be that 2h frost was radically outpacing DW, and they wanted to balance between the two, with the particular change to Might of The Frozen Wastes, since a 2h DK deals less damage with any individual Obliterate than a DW would. A theoretical balance between the two sides of the spec seems totally legit.
However, for the broader Obliterate nerfs, yeah, they need to just implement a line in the specialisation benefits of some trees that says "Reduces damage to players and player pets by x%."
kdiddy Jun 8th 2011 2:18PM
The funny thing is DW has been ahead of 2H for a little while now, and only by a small percent. So I don't know what the nerfs are for. Are they trying to get more people to DW for some reason? Are they trying to make unholy the 2h spec of choice? It's anyone's guess. The only thing that makes sense is pvp balance, and even that doesn't make sense, because like I said, DKs aren't killing the charts right now. I don't need DKs of any spec to be OP, I just wish they would leave us be until we actually need to be balanced. Blizzard has to come up with another solution for balancing pvp, period. I think my QQ is legit.
SamLowry Jun 9th 2011 1:20AM
Agreed. I'm tired of the constant class changes because of PVP whining. Split it off into a separate spec entirely, please. Then leave us the frick alone.
bmsones Jun 8th 2011 1:33PM
Looks like its to spec out of soul swap since blizzard is set on killing it.
bmsones Jun 8th 2011 1:34PM
Err, I meant "it's time to spec out of ..."
dsauto Jun 8th 2011 8:17PM
Whats a patch without the obligatory warlock nerf? I see the mage nerf has dissapeared as well so it must be ready to launch.
I'm in the same boat as many warlocks are-been my main for too long & have too many achieves, mounts etc to change. It is sad to see a fun class that could do some amazing things get eaten away by the poor choices made by uncaring devs.
skillar3 Jun 9th 2011 4:17AM
Yeah nice of you to nerf warlocks agen....Really Blizz???
Cmon, boost our dmf for once.
