Great interview! Not much to say about the words other than that, he seems like a fascinating guy.

My only comment on anything specific in either articles is that Joichi should really take a few minutes and read Addons 101 - or at the very least someone should hack into his computer and put Grid on there. The UI artist in me is always saddened when I see a keyhole of a UI, and the space that xperl is taking up on that screenshot is making me cringe over here.
