Literaltruth: I think there's a lot more give and take in Activision's agreement with Blizzard than most people realize. The company (Act-Blizz) has shareholders who demand to be pleased - otherwise you wouldn't have your interesting earnings calls - and Mike Morhaime does have a boss, who also has a boss.
Day to day operations? Those likely go untouched, save for marketing and brand recognition efforts. Long-term drive, milestones? You can bet Activision has input.
Let's remember that Microsoft was supposedly pretty 'hands off' with Bungie as well, but they nevertheless drove those devs to create more Halo games than they truly wanted to.
