The Queue: Relaunch

I'm pretty sure I'm the target audience for the DC Comics relaunch -- someone who liked superhero movies and subject matter but didn't care overmuch about the cape books themselves. And now I'll probably buy a bunch of the new #1's day one thanks to the fresh continuity and the new costumes.
Anthony asked:
They said (somewhere) that purchasing the PVP weapons in 4.2 requires you to reach some type of honor amount before purchase, does that mean your total since 4.2 or your total since cata?
It's your total points earned since the beginning of the arena season, not since the beginning of the expansion.
Stevepete asked:
What is the name of the actual individual quest that a character would have to progress up to in the existing Hyjal zone in order to be able to access all of the new Firelands content dropping in 4.2?
I believe Blizzard said that the new patch 4.2 quests become available if you've successfully regrown Hyjal; if I'm correct, that means that the quest in question is Aessina's Miracle. If I'm wrong and you have to complete the whole dang mountain, then the quest you need to complete is The Firelord.
Mem0ryburn asked:
Why doesn't Blizz make the AH inaccessible for anyone under, say, level ten or whatever? I don't think that would really get in the way of gameplay and I think it would maybe deter some gold farmers, no?
That wouldn't really curb farmers at all, given that most farming, gold selling, and other illicit activities involving the auction house are performed by compromised high-level characters, not lowbies.
Blizzard has sort of reached the point that any further limits on gameplay for low-level characters would cause new players to get turned off to the game; they already can't whisper, use several chat channels, etc. And Blizzard knows this.
Trilynne asked:
What level of gear will we need to start raiding Firelands on normal difficulty? Will we need gear from t11 normal or heroic modes?
It would be best for you to have mostly i359 gear. You shouldn't need gear from heroic T11 raids to enter Firelands. Guilds capable of downing most heroic mode bosses are the exception, not the rule.

So, DC is doing a comic about a female blood elf paladin, stranded in Netherstorm? Awesome! I can't wait to see what Area 52 will look like...
Xaklo Jun 10th 2011 4:11PM
Wrong! That's OBVIOUSLY a male Blood Elf.
(plays a male Blood Elf btw, not hatin')

Question for Q.
At blizzcon do you think blizzard will realise any information about project titan.
Sorro Jun 10th 2011 11:09AM
They might not have any big announcements at all. There was a recent blue post about blizzcons in general, and there was a vague hint that every blizzcon wouldn't necessarily have a big announcement.
Knob Jun 10th 2011 11:14AM
Well, this time we can safely bet that they'll reveal the release date of Diablo 3 and Heart of the Swarm, and for WoW they may give a preview of the Deathwing raid instance. It's possible they may think that's enough.
aerrae Jun 10th 2011 11:19AM
I am guessing that this is not the year for no big announcements, they have too many things on the go right now... Diablo 3 could use some love, and maybe an idea on release. "Titan" is another thing people are waiting for. Another expansion is possible for wow.
I just don't think this year is going to be a let down.
Arkensis Jun 10th 2011 11:37AM
Sorro - do you have a source for said vague hint?
Also, it would be surprising if this year's Blizzcon didn't have some sort of big announcement. Last year's Blizzcon was a bit of a dud as far as hype goes... the biggest things that came out last year were for games and expansions that had already been released.
If I had to put a bet on things, I would say we'll see release dates for Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm, Diablo III and maybe a major (non-expansion) content update for WoW. Unlike everyone else, I'm not so inclined to believe that they'll be announcing any expansions for WoW, and if they do, I wouldn't expect anything very concrete except for maybe a location and the big enemy - 4.2 has yet to be released, and we're sort of on track for 4.3 or maybe 4.4 by the time Blizzcon hits us. That gives them almost a full year of content before they're where people are estimating Cataclysm's life will end with 4.8. A lot can happen in a year in terms of development.

@ Sorro
Seems like a big waste of time, money and effort to host the Con and not have an announcement. Even 2010's had the demon hunter for D3 and the gameplay modes for SC2. Not much, but better than nothing at all.
They'll announce something. Maybe the next WoW expansion, perhaps D3's release date.
loop_not_defined Jun 10th 2011 11:56AM
Blizzard *has* said that not every BlizzCon needs a huge announcement, but I'm pretty sure that comment was heading into last year's Blizzcon...which was lacking huge announcements.
johnthediver Jun 10th 2011 12:10PM
I hope there is something big to announce this year, last years blizzcon was lacking in announcements. Especially after the Cata intro movie was leaked 4 days before blizzcon.
Hob Jun 10th 2011 12:10PM
Since Blizzcon '11 will be in October, patch 4.2 (and maybe 4.3?) will already be old news. Cataclysm will have been out for (just over) ten months.
For Lich King:
The expansion launched November 2008, Ulduar came out in April 09, Call of the Crusade came out in early August '09, and the convention was late August '09. They announced Cataclysm at that convention.
It won't be too soon to announce.
Ringo Flinthammer Jun 10th 2011 1:00PM
We know we will be getting the final pre-expansion Diablo III class for sure. (They won't say a date for it until much closer to release.) I would guess we'll get the next expansion announcement, too. It's almost certainly too early for them to say anything about Titan other than "it's coming."
blancester Jun 10th 2011 1:52PM
For WoW news seems to soon for a expac info. Maybe the patch after firelands or next two patches after fireland. I could be wrong about the expac and hope I am too.
David Jun 10th 2011 4:47PM
@blancester They have ALWAYS released expansion info the Blizzcon after the previous expansion came out. They did it for Wrath, they did it for Cata, so why not this expansion pack?
Wrath info was released Blizzcon after BC came out, Cata info was released Blizzcon after Wrath came out, this x-pac will be released Blizzcon after Cata came out, meaning this one. It isn't too soon to release it, it is just on time.
Fletcher Jun 10th 2011 11:07AM
I've heard than when we're not using our Marks of the World Tree (daily quest currency in the Molten Front) to advance the content, we'll be able to buy 365-level gear with them (similarly to the way one could buy 200-level gear with Champion's Seals in 3.2). Is this true? If so, what delicious gear will we be able to buy? Does it look shiny?

@Fletcher:
This is the closest I could get to a complete list, using Wowhead's PTR database. Keep in mind that the Brewfest items and Hallows End items will not be available until their respective holidays. Also, the filters I put in didn't catch quite a few PvP items.
http://ptr.wowhead.com/items?filter=minle=365;maxle=365;cr=79:93:86:169;crs=3:2:12:-2324;crv=0:0:0:0
Vael Jun 10th 2011 11:35AM
Just to clarify, since Knob's post covered nearly all of the gear available:
The following 4 items become available after Through the Gates of Hell is completed. The NPC vendor, Zen'Vorka should be around, after you get back from completing you dailies. He'll have the following items:
Fireheart Necklace
Nightweave's Amulet
Pyrelord Greaves
Matoclaw's Band
*Note* It does worry me that the MMO-Champion post does have this Vendor, or the items listed above. Perhaps it is from a quest, like the Thrall questline which rewards 1 of 4 epic cloaks? Or maybe Blizzard nixed this NPC altogether. /ponder
*Edit* I had to take out the URLs for the Items, but you can find them in the previous post of mine, where I provided the larger Wowhead PTR list. WoWInsider only allows 3 urls per post. :*(

One final reply, after I did a bit more research:
This item does not appear to be in the final release:
http://ptr.wowhead.com/item=71633 . My guess is that it was this item, or http://ptr.wowhead.com/item=70144 , and the Fireball won out.
Reference http://www.wowpedia.org/Mark_of_the_World_Tree for a complete list of all available items which are unlocked with Marks of the World Tree, and purchased with gold.
