The Queue: Relaunch

I'm pretty sure I'm the target audience for the DC Comics relaunch -- someone who liked superhero movies and subject matter but didn't care overmuch about the cape books themselves. And now I'll probably buy a bunch of the new #1's day one thanks to the fresh continuity and the new costumes.
Anthony asked:
They said (somewhere) that purchasing the PVP weapons in 4.2 requires you to reach some type of honor amount before purchase, does that mean your total since 4.2 or your total since cata?
It's your total points earned since the beginning of the arena season, not since the beginning of the expansion.
Stevepete asked:
What is the name of the actual individual quest that a character would have to progress up to in the existing Hyjal zone in order to be able to access all of the new Firelands content dropping in 4.2?
I believe Blizzard said that the new patch 4.2 quests become available if you've successfully regrown Hyjal; if I'm correct, that means that the quest in question is Aessina's Miracle. If I'm wrong and you have to complete the whole dang mountain, then the quest you need to complete is The Firelord.
Mem0ryburn asked:
Why doesn't Blizz make the AH inaccessible for anyone under, say, level ten or whatever? I don't think that would really get in the way of gameplay and I think it would maybe deter some gold farmers, no?
That wouldn't really curb farmers at all, given that most farming, gold selling, and other illicit activities involving the auction house are performed by compromised high-level characters, not lowbies.
Blizzard has sort of reached the point that any further limits on gameplay for low-level characters would cause new players to get turned off to the game; they already can't whisper, use several chat channels, etc. And Blizzard knows this.
Trilynne asked:
What level of gear will we need to start raiding Firelands on normal difficulty? Will we need gear from t11 normal or heroic modes?
It would be best for you to have mostly i359 gear. You shouldn't need gear from heroic T11 raids to enter Firelands. Guilds capable of downing most heroic mode bosses are the exception, not the rule.

Low-level characters can't whisper?!? I haven't tried that in a long time (not an alt-aholic) but that sounds like the wrong solution.

I used to get whispers from time to time saying "Hi, (character name). I'm so and so. Do you need any gold?" did a /who and it's some level 1 in a starting zone. Gold spammers are constantly trying new approaches to getting your cash in their hands.

Trial accounts can't whisper, use chat channels etc. Low-level characters of subscribed accounts can do those things.
Vladpr Jun 10th 2011 11:18AM
Low level players can do everything, IF they have an active account. I used a level 1 bank alt all the time without constraints.
Trial accounts are the ones who can't do much, like use the mailbox for example. Even if you are level 10 on it.

Low level characters can whisper. Maybe Mr. Sacco was refering to low level toons on trial accounts?
aerrae Jun 10th 2011 11:26AM
If he was talking about trial accounts, they are already locked from the AH anyway, so the solution is already there.
I think they may have confused 2 different things.
Bryan Jun 10th 2011 11:54AM
I believe they can whisper only if someone whispers them first.
Bryan Jun 10th 2011 11:56AM
edit: those on trial accounts.

I can whisper on my level 2 bank alt. Trial accounts can't whisper or use chat channels though. Don't think they can mail or use the AH either.

A couple questions. Are Chaos Orbs tradable between group members after they are looted, (like the BOP gear drops are tradable for 2 hours afterwards)?
Do you think they will add more rewards to Baradin's Wardens, like they did with the Wintergrasp vendors?
Noyou Jun 10th 2011 11:32AM
The Baradin Wardens are more like the Argent tourney than Wintergrasp in terms of vendors. They updated their pvp items according to arena seasons. I don't see this happening with Baradin.
Amak Jun 10th 2011 11:45AM
The only items you can trade are those with timers (the gear from bosses) and conjured items (health stones and food). Other loot, either BoP or BoE, cannot be traded simply because it is not flagged as such.
I doubt they will add more stuff to buy from Tol Barrad. Unlike Wintergrasp, players won't build up a pile of tokens unless they continue doing TB dailies after they have bought their trinket and farmed the mount. If you recall, WG tokens dropped from heroics if your faction held WG. So the WG vendor served as a place to spend this widely gained currency. In contrast, TB is just a daily hub which serves it's purpose for the current tier. Next tier will be served by the Firelands dailies hub.

"(Can't) use several chat channels"
New players not being able to read trade chat might be a good thing. Haha!
I'm sure Blizzard is just as frustrated as players are, and I see both sides of putting too many limitation on lower level players. Tried to do a naked gnome race recently, only to find out low levels can't join raid groups. =/

What happened to the Insider Trader article? When I looked them up the newest was from January. I see that Gold Capped is still up. I was never sure why there were two but...

Any idea when/how we'll get the heirloom legs yet?
Knob Jun 10th 2011 11:19AM
If push comes to shove, dig up the corpses of your ancestors, saw off their legs and carry them around claiming they're heirlooms.
exogenesis. Jun 10th 2011 1:23PM
That'd leave quite a bit of mess on nice shiny armour!
I'm not asking out of impatience; I rarely level with heirlooms. Just wondering 'cos they were datamined months and months ago, but there doesn't seem to have been any news on them since. Curious.

Question for the Joystiq pros:
Is there a way to change my username without setting up a new account with a new e-mail?
Noselacri Jun 10th 2011 11:21AM
Subquestion: I changed my pic through the Joystiq site, but remain a doofy ogre. Suggestions?

Subsubquestion:
Can I make the comment system default to the "AIM" option, instead of Returning?
