Official tier 12 armor set preview updated with warrior and druid

Warriors will dress themselves in the Molten Giant Battleplate, made in the image of the new molten giant model. You may remember molten giants and molten destroyers from the Molten Core. They also wander fields of lava in the Firelands, ready to lumber over to unsuspecting players.
Druids will be donning the Obsidian Arborweave sets, based on what appears to be the tree that Malfurion and the Avengers of Hyjal are growing in the Firelands as the foward base against Ragnaros. Maybe, as a restoration druid, you were upset that Tree of Life was not a permanent form anymore. Well, now you get to dress up like a tree. Compromise. Hit the jump for a pic of the druid set.
By the way, Obsidian Arborweave is the most "Blizzard" name for anything I have ever seen. I hope that guy got a raise.

The news is already rolling out for the upcoming WoW Patch 4.2! Preview the new Firelands raid, marvel at the new legendary staff, and get the inside scoop on new quest hubs -- plus new Tier 12 armor!

Honestly don't like the druid set...
Lloren Jun 13th 2011 3:42PM
With you. I usually want to like my class's set, and I'll try to find something about it I like, but going from pretty bird t11 to wtf t12... With pants... Ugh. At least getting offset pieces won't bug me as much as usual since the tier is already bad on its own.
Chrior Jun 13th 2011 3:46PM
Not to sound rude...but I absolutely LOVE the druid set
TonyKP Jun 13th 2011 3:54PM
It's the pendulum effect. Fugly T10 followed by nice looking T11, then back to fugly-ish T12. T13 will be good looking again.
And no, this doesn't at all make up for the loss of tree form. ;-)

well unless if you are resto, most of the time you are likely in either a bear, cat or boomkin right?

Is the Druid set from City of Heroes? Because...
Snuzzle Jun 13th 2011 7:03PM
I liked it at first, now I'm not so sure. It really ought to be robes not pants. Even for a feral druid, pants just never complement a druid set imo. It also ought to be a more "naturey" glow... green or purple or something. Yellow with pants says "this is probably a paladin set.
Sigh.

Nvm, just looked at the MMO-Champ preview pics and there are a green-glow and purple-glow set. I don't know why there are three colors.... offset, normal, and heroic? I hope the green is normal and the purple is heroic, while the ywllow is offset because it looks the least "druidy" and could easily pass as rogue armor.

Trying to find something to like... open toes. In contact with the earth. Looks bad with how elaborate the rest is, but at least a nod to function over form. Same with the fingers. The dangling trinkets. I like those. Such a small part of the whole, but I like them.
Also, what would you call that on the shoulders, a volcano-tree? I could like it if I were inclined to big and awesome instead of sleek, fun, and leafy.
It's not tree form if it doesn't have lots of leaves.

I'm just happy we're finally not wearing a dress...
Ilmyrn Jun 13th 2011 3:13PM
The druid set is looking nice, I think. Armor's so dark that it's hard to pick out against a black background.
Actually, I'm liking almost all of the tier sets this time around. Paladin, Mage, and Warrior are standouts for me. Not crazy about the DK set, but that's probably at least in part because of how much it differs thematically from the usual DK look.

It's nearly impossible for me to make out any detail on the druid T12. The warrior stuff looks pretty good, if a bit uninspired.
Saeadame Jun 13th 2011 11:35PM
Basically, you're wearing a tree stump on your head.
Which, I find kind of awesome, but it's understandable if some people don't like it.
Martin Jun 14th 2011 12:33AM
Hey, my hunter has been living with a Murloc head for a while, I'm not one to badmouth a stumphead. :D
MattKrotzer Jun 13th 2011 3:16PM
After initially hating the Warrior set, I find that its grown immensely on me, and I now look forward to building up the full set.
Matthew Jun 13th 2011 4:32PM
I thought you played a Pally!
Jk Jk :-)
MattKrotzer Jun 14th 2011 2:00PM
Them's fightin' words!
You take that back!
The Dewd Jun 13th 2011 3:18PM
I can't decide if I like the Druid set or not - which means I'll either wind up hating it or falling in love. The asymmetrical aspect of it bugs me, though.
HappyTreeDance Jun 13th 2011 3:23PM
I'm not a fan of the druid set. I really don't like the shoulders, as they look just...bad on a female tauren. I'm not exactly against the whole pants thing, but I assume I'd probably be more into it if I played a nelf and actually could kind of pull off the whole "sleek" look.
I'm just bitter because to me, tier 11 was absolutely beautiful for druids, and it's going to suck to go from that to this.
Shinae Jun 13th 2011 4:01PM
I do feel bad that this is what you (resto)druids have to look forward to. Blizz designers could have done much better with the whole treebark motif.
