World of Warcraft Classic and
The Burning Crusade are currently on sale at the Blizzard Europe store for 4.99€ (£4.99) each. This sale will last until June 20, 2011. Now is a great time to buy the game as a gift or start up that second account for some sweet
recruit-a-friend rocket mount action.
We do not have any information yet if the sale will be extended to the US store, but in the past these sales have been paralleled in both regions. For now, check these links for the EU store downloads and retail version links:
REMINDER -- These copies of WoW are for the European realms ONLY. If you are a US realm customer, wait until we have confirmation about a US-specific sale on these games.

Clearly that's Euros and Pounds, everyone.
Also - does anyone know what's happening with Conquest and Valor points come patch 4.2?
Noyou Jun 14th 2011 2:16PM
Shame on you!
techvoodooguy Jun 14th 2011 2:41PM
*sigh* I'll explain it again (I've only explained it 4 times to guildies in the past hour)
Conquest will be converted down to Honor. You will not surpass the cap of 4000 Honor. Each point past the cap will be converted into 35 silver.
Now replace Conquest and Honor with Valor and Justice and you have the rest.

Don't be "that" guy.

For those of you in the US with friends who play in the EU: You can have a EU WoW licence attached to your US battle.net account...
kia Jun 15th 2011 12:12AM
Right, because battle.net accounts are not region specific. This does not mean that you can play with your EU friends while you're on your US account though. The individual wow accounts are still very much region-specific.
Xanadal Jun 14th 2011 2:20PM
Wait a sec, did WoW Insider just cover EU only news?!?
Moar please.
John Patrick Jun 14th 2011 2:26PM
Well, if you ask me, the symbol is clearly represented by the Scarlet Crusade. Getting the game for only 5 badges is a sweet deal ! (Chuckle)
robbymack Jun 14th 2011 2:43PM
I hope this deal will be available in the US as well...I've been considering buying another account so my daughter can quest with her big brother. I was thinking I'd just get her vanilla WoW for now, but I know she'd be extra happy if she could roll a blood elf.
Sidone Jun 14th 2011 3:01PM
had to say :nice found! on http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/ blizz only advertise 'classic' on sale ( for over a week tho) so cheers up for bc and eu related news.p

If Activision-Blizzard want new players to the game, they better keep the game at that price.
I told my wife that if she wanted to play with me, she'd have to spend about 150$ for the game + monthly payments. She doesn't play with me.
Ice Jun 14th 2011 4:51PM
I would agree but what can you do really?
Wow is biggest MMO on the market, they know it. People know it. They can happily get peoples money even if all of the expansions would cost over 200$. Why? "Where else they are gonna go".
They might have friends on wow, they have heard about wow, they have read how wows competition are "dead and flops" (which they really arent that much) etc etc.
Its pure "ripping off"(in my eyes) because they know they can. I mean lets face it:
Other MMOs with expansions cost maybe 60$ at most in total. Some even come in as pack of 10$ (I think it was LOTRO..I know its free but it was before that). Other MMOs have cheaper monthly fees too but not that many.
Wow is by far the most expensive MMO to play but they continue to do it because they can. Theres no competition where they would need to lower prices to. Besides try telling activision-blizz shareholders that cutting cost of expansions to 60$ is good business move if it sells a lot anyway.
btw nice name!
bluesky_v2.01 Jun 15th 2011 4:03PM
@Ice
I don't think Blizzard is as invincible as you're making them sound. It's not even a matter of competition, Blizzard will soon be missing out on a lot of potential customers . . . people like Jari's wife and a few of my friends. They're not going to turn to other MMOs, they're just not going to play, that's all.
Once you're hooked on the game, it doesn't seem that bad, of course, but for a brand new player $150 is a steep price to pay for a game they may or may not be interested in.

Like that holiday sale they had after Cat came out, where vanilla+BC+LK = 20 bucks. I definitely think they should revisit that price point. For such an old game, the base version and old expansions should drop to that price. Cat at $40 isn't even that bad. See if you like it, and for 20 bucks you get a ton of content. A new player isn't going to blitz through the content very fast, and they can make the decision by the time they hit 80 whether or not they want to spend that extra $40.
Bossy Jun 14th 2011 6:14PM
Too little.
They should start selling WOW + all expansions for 19.95 in the coming 6 months (up to and including XMas sales or WOW basic @ 5.00 fixed price.
And then release the new expansion in 2nd Q 2012 at 29.95.
Advantage: huge influx of new generation of players and all players will still buy the latest expansions.
WOW 2011is very well suited for the newer generation of quick/ always availabale content 24/7, much better than the old 2004 WoW was where you had to build upon the old - basement dwellers kind of players and huge time sink mechanics.
CATA was for NEW players 1 - 60, so it beats me why they did'nt have a very low basic price for all content up to and including Wrath.
But perhaps they wait til SWTOR will launch before applying this politic.
Jack Mynock Jun 15th 2011 9:48AM
Actually, when Cataclysm was released, the online store offered vanilla, bc, and wrath for $5 each for awhile.
pmacnei Jun 14th 2011 6:44PM
Oh man oh man please let this come to the North American store. D: My boyfriend desperately wants to get Cataclysm but he needs an ENTIRELY NEW WoW account. So he has to buy EVERYTHING. Cheap Cata would at least drop it to $85 bucks rather than $120.
IronWeasel Jun 15th 2011 3:49PM
4.99€ = 7.07334 USD as of 2011-06-15 19:45 UTC.
Exchange rate is currently 1 EUR = 1.41750 USD
So basically, for just under $15 you can buy WoW and BC. Not a bad deal if you're wanting to roll a new alt and really want the RAF bonus.
