The Classifieds: 7th Annual Proudmoore Pride Parade

June is typically designated Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender (GLBT) Pride Month, and for the seventh consecutive year, the celebration is spilling over into Azeroth on the Proudmoore server.
World of Warcraft's two largest GLBT-friendly guilds The Spreading Taint (Proudmoore [US-H]) and The Stonewall Family (Proudmoore [US-A]) are co-sponsoring the Seventh Annual Proudmoore Pride Parade. Festivities start Saturday, June 25th at noon server (PDT). Horde players will meet at Mor'shan Rampart in the Northern Barrens to begin the parade; Alliance players will stage at Astranaar in Ashenvale. Both factions will then meet up at the gates of The Barrens and march together to Ratchet to board ships for the Booty Bay "after party."
Players from all realms are encouraged to roll an alt on Proudmoore to participate -- both Taint and Stonewall will be creating visitors' guilds interconnected with each host guild's chat. Full details will be posted on the official website, ProudmoorePride.com.
Random Acts of Uberness
It's when another player lights up your night with precise play, a wicked sense of humor or unexpected generosity that your login becomes something to remember. Share your Random Acts of Uberness with theclassifieds@wowinsider.com. Keep things brief (150 words or less, please), and be sure to list everyone's character names and home realms or battlegroup. Don't be afraid of sending an entry more than once if it doesn't appear; sometimes internet dragons eat email, and we'd hate to let that keep deserving players from getting their due.
A PUG, a wonderful PUG -- I've been leveling a resto shaman through the dungeon finder, and have had absolutely terrible groups lately - every stereotype in the book, from diva tank to clueless dps (no really, ask me about the boomkin tank in Scarlet Monastery). I zoned in to Zul'Farrak with Woodvine - Aman'Thul, Somnambulism - Sen'Jin, and Daikon- Eldre'Thalas expecting another lackluster group. We proceeded to four-man the place after the third dps dc'd, and I have not had that much fun with a PUG in a long, LONG time. You guys ROCKED. Here's hoping we meet up again! Love, your healer -- Paridae
Employment: Guild recruitment
Looking for more? Send in your guild name, realm, a link to your guild website or armory listing and a sentence or two on your guild's focus (10-man, RP, late-night raiding, whatever) to theclassifieds@wowinsider.com.
Anti-PUG group Looking for late night raiding with eastern times. Sick of PuGing? US TOO! Consecration - Dragonblight (US-H) is looking for mature and reliable raiders for their Tuesday and Thursday night runs from 8:30 to Midnight EST. We are a casual group of raiders who have a sense of humor and have fun, looking for those who don't take themselves TOO seriously. Cataclysm raiding experience preferred but not required. We can be contacted in-game or at consecration.wowstead.com
First strike, first win Six-year guild recruiting raiders. First Strike www.firststrikeguild.com of Suramar, an Alliance raiding guild focused on completing Heroic content, is recruiting. We have a six year history of providing a stable, mature, and COMPLETELY DRAMA-FREE environment for our members. Looking for a Holy Priest (with solid shadow offspec), Death Knight, Warlock, Shadow Priest, Mage, Boomkin, or any exceptional character. 25-person raiding on Wed/Sun/Mon 8-11 PST. If you want to raid efficiently and have the skill to take it to the next level this is for you.
For parents Ma and Pa Save The World is a new guild freshly created for Parents (hence the name), Casuals and Very Casuals who would like to experience as much of the game as they can, without the pressures the larger guilds place on players with limited playtime, or frequent AFKs (to let little Jimmy out of the bathroom after he locked himself in for the fourth time). We are also a good choice for those with busy work schedules. Ma and Pa Save The World will do 5-Man dungeons, Battleground and World PVP and Heroics once the members hit level cap. Currently we are all on freshly created toons, and loving it, moving through the new Cataclysm revamped content and letting everyone settle into roles.
Might be Metallica You never know, but there's probably worgen. Of Wolf And Man (ofwolfandman.com) would like to invite mature players to build a guild from level 1. There has to be others like me who don't seem to fit anywhere, so I am hoping we would fit together. I intend to start from rock bottom with only a few hours per week to play dungeons and, eventually, evolve to raiding. Common sense, maturity and patience are imperative. Alluren (EU-Bronzebebard)
Reckless raiding Reckless is a 10man raiding guild. The goal of Reckless is to keep making steady progress while having fun playing the game. For us this means full focus in raids and always trying to challenge ourselves to do better. We are looking to add a protection paladin and a restoration/elemental shaman to our guild. We raid 3-4 times/week 20:10 - 23:30 ST.
Vague name I wonder if they're rebelling on behalf of death, or rebelling against death. Deaths Rebels (arathor) is looking to grow its numbers we are a very casual guild enjoy leveling, running alts, heroics, and all things guild we hope to raid in the near future as we get more members to do so

I've participated in Proudmoore Pride almost every year, and it's a blast. Be sure to join the fun this year.
Let it be known, it's not just for gays anymore (http://youtu.be/-6S5caRGpK4). You straight folks are welcome, too. So, dress to impress and join us this year. It's fabulous... er, I mean awesome!

I would be very much impressed and pleased if Blizzard snuck some rainbow-skinned balloon pets into 4.2. I may roll a toon to support the cause.
I don't think they ever will, though.
(Seeing this in my feed reader at work was the highlight of my day--"They have a pride parade in WoW? That's f***ing AWESOME.")

I think it's funny how many people think there's nothing wrong with a man sticking his penis inside another man's butt. If somebody were to try that with me I'd kill them.
cyanea85 Jun 15th 2011 7:55PM
Have you tried it?
It's quite fun. :3

@Agony: As much as that study amuses me (and political scandals of the past do help support it), I'm not sure how they can make their claim while only testing 64 people in all. That sample group is entirely too small for any form of real theory to be formed.

Thanks WoWInsider & Michael for the coverage! Both guilds are looking forward to hosting the event and having a great time again this year.
Ginjack Jun 15th 2011 5:34PM
For those of you who have never seen the event, and are curious what it looks like -- we have YouTube clips from previous years at our the official event website --
Check it out at http://www.proudmoorepride.com/#/videos/4551736864 or search YouTube for "proudmoore pride" -- gives you a good idea what the party is like

Yes, thanks for the shout-out, WoWInsider! We hope lots of WoW Insider readers will join us for the parade and Booty Bay dance party! Whether you're Horde or Alliance, every year the Proudmoore Pride celebration is a seriously awesome time.
Jonisjalopy Jun 15th 2011 3:05PM
My warrior would join, but the Gobbies in Booty Bay don't like me so much. Something about killing thousands of them for hours for rep.
Nivella Jun 15th 2011 2:35PM
Ok, I'm officially asking about the boomkin tank from scarlet monastery.
Vael Jun 15th 2011 2:43PM
Best of luck with the Parade, ladies and gents! I look forward to the (edited for length) videos! :-D
And to all of the naysayers; no bashing / or threats will be tolerated. Harassment is something Blizzard and WoWInsider is very strict and forthright about. So, please keep the hate to yourselves, or unleash it in some PvP!

Happy Pride Day! That should be pretty awesome.
One thing I've long wanted is to ask guild recruitment advertisers to do is to specify exactly what they mean by 'mature'. Things that mature could mean:
1) We're all college students, don't want any high school kids because guild chat mostly consists of talk about sex, drugs and alcohol abuse.
2) We just kicked out a bunch of drama queens and we don't want whiners or high-strung people.
3) We're mostly retired and any group activity will have built-in time for frequent bio breaks.
4) We're mostly young parents and any group activity will have people going AFK to change diapers, or rescue the kid from a nightmare.
I don't think that type 1 is very mature, but that's personal opinion. In any case, it'd be nice if adverts could move away from such a generic word and come up with a better way to convey their group mentality.
(cutaia) Jun 15th 2011 3:02PM
I always refer to my guild as mature(-ish) in my guild adverts. Not sure if that's more or less descriptive.
M Jun 15th 2011 5:49PM
I hate to say it, but from my brief time in Taint, when they say it's a "mature" guild, they mean #1 (...guild chat mostly consists of talk about sex, drugs and alcohol abuse). Which is very different from how I define mature.
Agony Jun 15th 2011 7:57PM
@M - I was in Taint for nearly a year. Drugs? NOT. A. SINGLE. TIME. EVER. Alcohol abuse? NEVER. Alcohol? People mentioned wine, beer, etc. but this is a game with the beer of the month club, so there you go. So that leaves the sex part. Occasionally there was some innuendo, once in a great while there was some talk of a more "mature" subject matter, but it was rare and it never lasted beyond the brief discussion. The way you're bringing it up, people might come away thinking it was all a gay Goldshire party or something.
And for those who think it is about this, sorry, but if you're looking for ERP, you're looking at the wrong collection of guilds.
gboyd Jun 15th 2011 2:50PM
So the Alliance start at Astranaar in Ashenvale and march to the Barrens. The Horde start at the Ramparts in the Barrens and wait for the Alliance to join them? I'd have like to have seen both factions starting apart then travelling to and meeting each other at the gates to the Barrens. From there, progressing as one to Ratchet/Booty Bay.
Symbolically it would represent people on both sides of the issue making a journey of acceptance and then proceeding, united, together for the future. As it stands now, one group will be waiting on the other to catch up before moving forward.
Just some thoughts.
Kole Jun 15th 2011 3:16PM
I can't wait for Pride!! Now I just need to decide which of my 9 Taint toons gets to participate this year...decisions decisions...
Happy Pride to those not joining us on Proudmoore (or that aren't in WoW!)
Bynde Jun 15th 2011 3:23PM
How fun!
I think I'll go this year.
