The Queue: Out of retirement

I decided to bring my Wrath shaman out of retirement, finally, and spent the better part of an afternoon getting his UI back to functionality, learning the new shaman stuff, and reseting and relearning all of the new talents. Seriously, there was a lot of dust on him. Sure, I've been following shaman progression through Cataclysm, but I had to relearn a lot of the class.
During Wrath, my shaman was restoration and elemental, as I never played enhancement after hitting the level cap at the time. After fixing his UI and getting everything set, I decided I really wanted to play enhancement. It just felt right, ya know? The trouble was that I had zero pieces of enhancement gear to start questing in Hyjal. One quick trip to the auction house rewarded me with cheap Cataclysm greens, but I was still holding my spell dagger and a shield. Throwing caution to the wind, I made off to Mount Hyjal, Stormstriking my way through the the first quests with ghost wolves, a dagger, and a shield.
I'm having way too much fun. Hopefully I'll get some new weapons soon. A part of me doesn't want to, however.

Will any of the Firelands bosses or quests give rep with Hydraxian Waterlords? I figure its a stretch since they haven't really done that sort of thing before, but it is a sound choice lore-wise.
The only new faction that players will be gaining reputation with is the Avengers of Hyjal, which will be acquired through raiding thew new Firelands raid tier. Guardians of Hyjal reputation is still received for doing quests in the Regrowth, I believe. Sadly, our old friends the Hydraxian Waterlords are not taking part in this assault on Ragnaros this time. Their reputation is still only accessible through killing trash (up to a certain point) and bosses in the Molten Core.
Perhaps we will meet the Hydraxians another time in the future, when (and if) we go back to the Abyssal Maw. Duke Hydraxis, leader of the Hydraxian pure water elementals, is a servant of Neptulon who broke free of his master's control. One day, maybe. One day.

Q to ponder: Do you or someone you know play WoW in first the person view?
I was thinking of making an alt and play only in first person view. I think it would make the world a little more scary seeing giant spiders and other creatures.
I don't think MMOs have been designed to be played in first person mode since Everquest or maybe even Asheron's Call. Even Everquest eventually pulled the camera back out from inside your character's head. I was one of those players who always had trouble playing an MMO in first-person because I had immense amounts of trouble with understanding my surroundings.
In WoW, there is so much to look at and watch for in terms of ground effects, environmental damage, etc., that the game was not designed to be played in first person mode. So, no, I don't see any reason to play in first person, except when I need to remove my character for screen shot purposes.
chefjr3 asked:
Ive been playing WoW since late 2007, is it worth it now to go back and play WC 1,2 and 3 to get a better perspective on the game as a whole?
If you are an RTS fan, absolutely. I loved the Warcraft games from beginning to end. They were engaging and fun, the stories were quirky, and they provided great gaming experiences. Of course, I have to cop to nostaligia since I basically built a computer back in the day to play Warcraft II, and these games were a big part of my youth. That said, they provide the very essence and foundation for World of Warcraft in a profound way, and I believe are worth the playthrough.
Or, as most people said in the comments, if RTS games aren't your thing, you can look through YouTube for videos of the crucial lore moments and story hooks. You can also read about the past games on Know Your Lore, Wowpedia, etc.

There's confusion in my guild as to the immediate availability of the new Firelands raid bosses. Must we get "attuned" by completing some/all of the new quests? Also, which quest, if any, must we complete that is currently available in order to unlock the new quest hubs? I'm having a hard time finding a straight answer online.
Thanks!
There is no attunement necessary to enter the new Firelands raid. The entrance is located in Hyjal at Sulfuron Spire in the southern part of the zone. In order to participate in the new Regrowth and Molten Front daily hub zones, you will have had to completed up to and including the quest Aessina's Miracle to see the new daily content.

The mobs are level 85. Even if you could go you'd be killed almost immediately.
Noyou Jun 18th 2011 3:08PM
That is an interesting question. You will most likely unlock the content at lvl 80/81 when you get to the point in Hyjal where it phases in. They could write something into it that it holds off til 85 though. I'm guessing the mobs will have as much or more health than the ones from the latest troll quests we got when the new heroics dropped. So they would most likely eat you pretty quickly if you were able to go to the firelands area at 80/81. I guess we will see how sinister Blizzard is.

You can visit/see Argent Tournament when you're lvl-1 (assuming a friend carries you there on a flying mount)... you can't QUEST at Argent Tournament till you're lvl-77.
You can visit/see Hyjal Regrowth quest hub when you're lvl-80/81 (assuming you've done enough Hyjal quests)... you can't QUEST at Hyjal Regrowth quest hub till you're lvl-85.

Question for the Q:
I recently did a system update on my phone (HTC Evo). When I visited the site on it, there was a mobile version, much to my surprise. I clicked view full site to go to something other than the headlines, but now I can't seem to get the mobile version back. Is there a way.
I've tried http://i.wow.joystiq.com like it was in my history, but it by default reloads the full site

Deleting your cache/cookies should do it. I have an iPhone, so I can't tell you how to do it. But that should work
Firespirit Jun 18th 2011 2:00PM
Try clicking menu>more>settings> and check to see if mobile view is on.

Hey, I'm thinking about returning to WoW, would anyone like to shoot me a RAF email so I can get a decent free trial? When I sign up, you will get a free month, ect.
My Email is Gunthen73@gmail.com

but seriously, dude. i would like to strongly issue a word of caution when it comes to disclosing your email address indiscriminately to a horde of strange people on the internet. just not a good idea. but either way, its a good time to come back!

Do you think the Midsummer boss will work along the same new "7 per week" instead of "1 a day" reward system that's now in place for the dungeon tool? I can see why they might not want to do that, but oh, it would be so much more convenient.

Q for the Q: Maybe I just missed it, but is there concrete data on exactly where tier12 tokens come from? I haven't seen them in loot lists, nor have I seen anything that confirms that some tier12 pieces are purchasable for valor. Is it possible that we won't be able to get tier pieces with valor this time?

Oh my god, only 2 pages of comments!
Okay, Q for Queue (while I have my chance):
Troll tusks. Do they grow from the upper jaw or the lower jaw? I used to think upper, but sometimes I see art that makes me think otherwise, or that there's a gender difference.
Oteo Jun 18th 2011 1:11PM
Also, did I miss the post where we talked about the patch 4.2 trailer? There are so many things we could talk about, like Aggra's change of voice, or the saccharine sweetness of it all.
VioletArrows Jun 18th 2011 3:42PM
Troll tusks grow from the lower jaw in both men and women. At least that's how they are in official art and in the 4.1 trailer.
As for the 4.2 trailer, there was a post on it in the middle of the night a couple days ago. And yes, Aggra's voice is all wrong, and the questline to go along with it will give you diabeetus.

How do you safely uninstall the WoW PTR Client?
Arrohon Jun 18th 2011 1:30PM
For PC:
Programs/World of Warcraft Public Test/World of Warcraft - Uninstall
For Mac:
Buy a PC
Cambro Jun 18th 2011 8:34PM
Ignore the obvious PC fanboi. If you're using a Mac, drag the PTR client folder (something like "World of Warcraft Public Test") to the trash can on your dock, then empty trash.
It's easier...on a Mac.

Where's the best place to find warcraft 1 and 2 to play? The Blizzard store only has WoW, Warcraft III (Reign of Chaos) and Warcraft III Frozen throne expansion
Arrohon Jun 18th 2011 1:35PM
eBay most likely. I'd expect plenty of compatibility issues to arise.
