Mage vs Warlock is always a case of practical vs AWESOME. Just look at these comparisons.
Summoning:
Mages summon Food and water. This is always appreciated, and possibly the sole reason there is never famine in Azeroth.
Warlocks summon spiked, fiery, toothy monsters intent on eating you and everyone you know, into this world - cause those things are awesome man!
Power
Mages struggling to sustain the energy needed may evocate, change the spell matrix or edit the incantation.
Warlock respond to a spell losing power by slicing open their own wrists, because fuck it - I've got a dimensional horror to summon, and if I can do it drunk, then I can do it woozy from blood loss.
Attire:
Mages wear practical robes (as far as such things go). They are good solid clothes with all the excitement of watching paint dry.
Warlocks won't touch anything with less than 5 skulls on it, preferably in black and if it could get some spikes too that would be great.
