The Queue: The weather outside

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mathew McCurley will be your host today.
Everyone seems to be knocked out by summer storms. Alex is stormed in, raiders were afk'ing because of tornados, and people across the land are screaming about lost internet connections. You know what this means, right? We need to demand that the government create better weather-controlling devices. I mean, really, it's the year 2011...
Aftermathmatical asked:
My Q, is that with the new PvP mount for RBGs, will we be able to send those to the opposite faction? I understand that we won't get a horde mount on my alliance character and vice versa, that they would change to the right faction. Will they allow this though, or will we have to earn them within our faction? (I know I know killing tons of alliance on my horde mage so I can earn and alliance mount on my Ally druid lol)
Most likely yes. When you purchase the level 25 guild mount reward (which is Bind on Account) you can send it to opposite faction members and it magically turns into that faction's version of the mount (either the lion or the scorpion.) I am assuming that the PVP mounts work exactly the same way. There's no reason to believe it would be anything different.

Question for the Queue:
Will we be able to purchase the T11 head piece and shoulders with justice points?
No. Blizzard has already said that anything that required tokens in patch 4.1 will continue to require tokens in 4.2. You will still need to kill Nefarian for your T11 head slot tokens and Cho'gall for the T11 shoulder slot tokens. Now that the normal modes of these encounters are nerfed about 20%, that shouldn't be too challenging of a feat to accomplish.
Now it's time for an Orkchop-athon of questions from Twitter.
Orkchop asked on Twitter:
For The Queue: Any recommendations on mics or headsets? Maybe something not too expensive?
I know that Sacco loves his Turtle Beach headset, and they are pretty cheap, all things considered. If you're looking to go Razer, the Piranha headset is pretty good for the price. Plantronics also makes some awesome headsets, and my brother used his Plantronics for a long, long time. Finally, Sennheiser has the PC 151 (my personal favorite brand for headsets) at just under $50 on Amazon right now, which is an awesome headset.
For gaming, I would almost always go with a headset mic. Why not? Both pieces of equipment you need in one. What's not to love?
Orkchop also asked on Twitter:
Are there any new lore moments in the new Midsummer Fire Festival holiday?
The Midsummer Fire Festival this year was light on changes since the holiday already had it's "collect holiday tokens, buy cool stuff" change-around. Not much has changed, other than the locations of some of the fires, since the world changed so drastically in Cataclysm. It is interesting to note, however, that this is Ragnaros' last Midsummer Fire Festival, and his new raid is coming out during "his" holiday. Isn't that kind of like busting into Santa's workshop in order to kill him and take his stuff during Christmas?
You know, if Santa wanted to ignite the world ...
green_jerm asked:
Question! Do you think blizzard will release some sort of instant messenger with battle.net where you wouldn't have to be logged into a game to talk to people online? I know they already have mobile guild chat, but I would love an IM on my computer desktop!
I really hope so! I believe that Battle.net is moving towards a social future, where the service will be much more like Steam currently is and less about the background to the games you log in to play. I would love to see Battle.net get its own social layer that sits on top of all of you games, and maybe even have an included clan/guild system as well. Frankly, I think Battle.net can go much further than it is. Maybe we'll even see some Battle.net announcements at BlizzCon this year.

Say I'm saved to Beth'tilac and I join a raid in progress that is working on Lord Rhyolith, and we kill him. Even though the first 4 bosses aren't linear, will the raid still become saved to Beth'tilac because I had already killed him? Or will Beth still be available to the other raiders since it's not required to kill him before you see Rhyolith? Thanks!
Vitos Jun 22nd 2011 11:10AM
Here is what I believe would happen via experience with Magmaw/Omnotron:
1) They are in the instance- you cannot enter because Beth'tilac is there and exists, and you have already killed her.
2) You are in the instance- they enter and are asked if they want to get saved with Beth'tilac dead.
Aalokor Jun 22nd 2011 11:21AM
Assuming the raid you joined has not downed Beth'tilac you won't be able to enter their lockout, they will have to enter yours
Helston Jun 22nd 2011 11:24AM
Yes, because the raid will need to go in on your lockout.
Now if you'd killed Beth'tilac, someone else had killed Rhyolith, but you wanted to do a raid together on a different of the first four bosses (don't know the name) I wouldn't have a clue.

It's just like the bosses in BWD right now. If you killed omnomnomiton and not mag, but they killed mag w/o killing omni. you wouldn't be able to join as far as I know.
Later if they did only Meloriak and you only did Chim. you still can't join.

Question for the Queue:
How did all of the Scarlet Crusade inhabitants of Tyr's Hand become undead? I quested through Eastern Plaguelands but I still don't understand it.
Hal Jun 22nd 2011 11:15AM
I would say either (1) the plague just worked its way through, despite their best efforts, or (2) it was the result of Arthas's conquest of the Scarlet Crusade as seen during the Death Knight starting quests.
Either way, I wish it were explored more. Undead Scarlet Crusaders make for a very interesting contradiction.
cyanea85 Jun 22nd 2011 11:23AM
They're also undead in (at least parts) of Scarlet Monastery.
Silversol Jun 22nd 2011 11:24AM
I find it perplexing as well... the one group of people able to resist the scourge invasion, staying in stratholme, tyr's hand, and hearthglen while living their crazy cultist lives. Now Arthas is no longer the lich king and they lose that holdout?
Maybe Bolivar actually knows their weakness...
Helston Jun 22nd 2011 11:30AM
If you were to enter "live side" stratholme, you'd find that Balnazzar had actually resurrected what he could of the Scarlet Crusade, hence why their last remnants are undead in a rather ironic twist.
Also, one of them in EPL says "Undeath is merely a setback!"
LynMars Jun 22nd 2011 12:58PM
I go with the fact that the entirety of the Death Knight starting area is the destruction of the Scarlet Crusade's holdings in EPL, including attacking Tyr's Hand. Combine that with Balnazzar's corruption in Stratholme, and the Scarlets were screwed back in Wrath; I know a lot of RPers who used that storyline, some of them with Scarlet characters.
Like a lot of older Classic plots, though, nothing got updated until Cata, since Tyr's Hand was a quest objective area, and they didn't update the old instances either until 4.0.
There were always some undead in the Monastery; the Graveyard's always been a part of that instance hub, it was just never as popular as the others as there weren't so many quests associated with it before Cata. There was little to no explanation for why the Scarlets had a bunch of ghosts in their own walls, except one, and the details were only given recently with 'The Ashbringer' comic.
Fairbanks likely was infected with the Plague when he lay under a bunch of corpses in Strat to avoid Renault Mograine from killing him while watching the younger man murder his father. Renault had Fairbanks killed when the Inquisitor returned to the monastery to accuse him; Fairbanks' accusations were one of the factors that helped start the Argent Dawn. Poor guy's been locked in that back room in the SM Cathedral since, giving Renault info since he was the elder Mograine's advisor.

"We need to demand that the government create better weather-controlling devices."
Depending on which internet conspiracy theory you wish to read on - the american government already has something called HAARP which (again according to the conspiracy theorists) can control the weather - so now you just have to get the government to
a) admit they have it
b) use it to make the weather better for you
(Removes tinfoil hat)
:)

Don't forget the 'Woodpecker' system either!

Dennis Jun 22nd 2011 1:27PM
This is the result of our weather control devices. Can you really expect the government to use an untested weapon on our enemies?
MattKrotzer Jun 22nd 2011 1:32PM
That's the best way to test 'em, isn't it?
Straz Jun 22nd 2011 11:07AM
IM service would be great! That's what I love the most about Steam. I've also gotten into the habit of running WoW through Steam in the past month or so.
Pumabackup Jun 22nd 2011 3:16PM
not sure if this counts or not, but back when they had the free preview service of the mobile service for android, i know you could have whisper conversations with people online, in addition to guild chat.
Telwar Jun 22nd 2011 11:08AM
Huh, I hadn't realized that the guild mount was BoA. I may have to send my goblock a scorpion, then.
Noyou Jun 22nd 2011 1:16PM
Somewhere in the recent weeks they converted many if not all BoA's into bind to battle.net items. I remember reading this change but it did not go into effect immediately. In the matter of the guild mounts I would think Blizzard would want to promote this feature up. My guild has a long way to go but it will be a nice reward for all those who have helped make us a happy little leveling guild :)
theRaptor Jun 22nd 2011 1:53PM
"Bind to Account" and "Bind to Battle.net Account" are functionally exactly the same if you only have one Battle.net account (ie you still can't server transfer stuff, so they should just say "Bind to Server"). Most people don't have multiple accounts so Blizzard promoting the change makes little sense.
