I don't think the question is whether the old gods were on Azeroth before the last time the titans came, but whether it was "titans came, then old gods came, then titans return" or some other sequence of events.

The answer seems to say that the old gods arrival to battle the Old Gods was an arrival rather than a return, but it's an arguement in semantics and wasn't the focus of the question, so I don't think you can really say.
