The Queue: The first Queue

Welcome back to The Queue, WoW Insider's daily Q&A column. Senior Editor of airplanes, Adam Holisky, will be your host today.
Today I thought it'd be fun to go back and look at the very first The Queue, back when it was called Ask a Beta Tester. The first edition of Ask a Beta Tester was written on July 29th, 2008 (almost three years ago), by then Editor-in-Chief Elizabeth Harper. It mainly dealt with Death Knights and Dalaran. In total, there were 77 editions of Ask a Beta Tester.
Ask a Beta Tester became The Queue on November 15th, 2008. Since then, there have been 640 editions of The Queue, for a total of (including today) 718 AaBT/Queues written. At an average of just over 4 questions answered per-edition, that's about 2,832 questions answered.
Today, let's add a few more...
Cyanea85 asked:
Did anything ever come of Blizz's pre-Cata promises that later tier bosses will require more hit than the earlier ones?
Not a word. I wouldn't at all be surprised to see it forgotten about. That kind of handicap seems to be contrary to current design. Maybe on a hard mode or something like that though ...
Andrew asked:
Will Blizzard ever add any other way to gain rep with the kitty people aside from the 2 daily quests and a tabard? It's hard to find the time to run a dungeon these days with my current work schedule and with just those dailies it's taking me forever to become exalted.
I doubt it -- earning rep from dungeon runs seems to be the preferred way to earn rep now for starting (expansion) factions. I know in your case that might be hard. Then again, if I were you, I might try to focus on something that's a little more doable for the amount of time you can play the game.
Luci asked:
How EXACTLY (every possible way) is guild rep earned?
Only three ways, that I know of and have found while researching:
- Quest turn-ins
- Guild group boss kills
- Guild group PVP

2,500 of them have been about valor points.
Necromann Jun 23rd 2011 11:04AM
That seems a bit high. I was thinking it was closer to 32.33 (repeating, of course) percent.
Hob Jun 23rd 2011 11:04AM
Yes, but fortunately there's a weekly cap on valor point questions.

I'm sure a ridiculous amount are: "when's the next patch/expansion/moose mount coming out?!"
Helston Jun 23rd 2011 11:33AM
What's going to happen to my conquest points when 4.2 hits?!?!?
hicks Jun 23rd 2011 11:37AM
14,573 have been about the D*nce St*dio. And they never get old!
Rylka Jun 23rd 2011 12:29PM
Considering that the 2,832 number refers to questions answered, I doubt it is that high.
Now trying to track the number of questions asked about Valor points in the Comments sections would likely break the poor logic chip in my CPU...

Q for the Q:
When's the next expansion that focuses solely on accumulating valor points to unlock new dance moves?
to soon?

Q for the Q:
Are they adding spirit as an option for the flasks that healers get out of guild cauldrons?

Not to mention the large percentage cut short by puppy distractio-*distracted by nerds*.

I get guild rep (50 I think?) whenever I win a battleground.
As for a queue question: my guild is 5/13 HMs ATM. How are we likely to fare come firelands?

I used this tool: http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~ssanty/cgi-bin/eightball.cgi
Here was the result: http://www.cutaia.net/wow/answer.png

Dammit. Better unsubscribe now.
Spelio Jun 23rd 2011 11:45AM
If you are 5/13 right now I don't think you will have a difficult time with Firelands. Your group is probably geared enough to start downing regular bosses with what they are wearing.
Thanatos Jun 23rd 2011 12:12PM
Or you can try the CGI version of the Magic Eight Ball:

(cutaia) Jun 23rd 2011 12:23PM
Yeah, I guess that's an option.
Wait, what?
thebitterfig Jun 23rd 2011 12:59PM
Thing is, even if you can only get 2 bosses deep in Firelands, that's 2 bosses worth of loot and valor points, which will gear you up, and before too long, you'd be able to go 8/12 HM for original content, and 4 bosses deep in Firelands, and after that...
srodrigueziii Jun 23rd 2011 1:31PM
If you can only get two boss deep in the Firelands, you're probably dating a redhead.
anuillae Jun 23rd 2011 3:30PM
It's apparently having a hard time deciding:

I don't know about the rep question...after 4.2, all starter reps can be Dailied to Exalted, with Ramkahen just being the slowest.
At least, I'm pretty sure the new Mount Hyjal dailies (not the ones inside the Molten Front) give Guardians of Hyjal rep.
