The Queue: Ancient memes for ancient connections

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mike Sacco will be your host today.
Yes, that's right. I moved to California, land of actual broadband internet, leaving my dial-up and horrible mobile broadband far behind. Are you excited? I'm excited. I'm downloading games from Steam at 2MB/s. Do you know how long it took me to download stuff like that before? And how much I had to pay for it? Don't get me started, people.
Josh asked:
Did curse.com and MMO-Champion.com get hacked like the other gaming sites?
They've reported that they're working through a hardware failure, not a security issue, so it doesn't appear that they've been hacked. We like Curse and we hope everything is back up and running soon!
RubyPhoenix asked:
Will the Dark Phoenix Mount have all new requirments come patch 4.2. For example, will we have to defeat Firelands in Heroic mode? If not what is happening to the mount?
The Dark Phoenix does not currently require heroic kills to unlock or purchase, and there's been no indication that those requirements will change.
Anjeney asked:
When patch 4.2 drops will guild leaders be able to transfer their guild with them to a new server?
Looks pretty unlikely for patch 4.2, given that there was no sign of it on the PTR and there's been no further announcement. Maybe for 4.3, if you're lucky.
Mistryder asked:
If Sylvanas is now able to raise beings from dead using her various methods, why don't we see undead trolls or draenei runnig around? Onenwould think that for someone who wants to keep her people alive that she would want to diversify her pool of candidates.
Sylvanas doesn't have the ability to raise the dead herself. She has val'kyr do it for her, and it's pretty clear through quest text that val'kyr can only (now, anyway) raise human corpses. It's a safe assumption they can still raise vrykul, but those are in short supply and not exactly in the neighborhood.

Will Jay Mohr be at BlizzCon again this year? If so why do people continue to have him host stuff?
shomechely Jun 24th 2011 2:09PM
Because he's hilarious!
MattKrotzer Jun 24th 2011 11:16AM
Because hosting only requires a "good enough" rating for success, really.
It could be worse. They could lock you in a room and force you to listen to him doing standup.
lownwolf Jun 24th 2011 11:22AM
i was going to reply to this and then i realized that it's a MattKrotzer day. so i'll let you continue to reply to everything =P
MattKrotzer Jun 24th 2011 11:35AM
I've hardly replied to anything all week... the comments sections haven't really garnered my attention for the most part.
Today, there's stuff I can talk about and respond to. Blame the OPs. ;)

Because hosting Blizzcon is like tanking.
Famous Name = instant queue. If you suck, you just requeue and get back in.
I think I'd make a great host. no really - I'm witty, handsome, and can memorize shtick.
I also don't drink before the job, play the game, and make innuendoes that make even F. van Allen Blush (while not in shadowform)

Two reasons:
1. The Slam Man does a good job and is funny.
2. WOW players hate everything, and are annoyed by everything, so what does it matter?
Ringo Flinthammer Jun 24th 2011 12:45PM
He has a lot of fans. More importantly, he has a lot of fans at Blizzard. If you want someone else, go to work at Blizzard, rise through the ranks, and veto Mohr appearing at Blizzcon 2016.
srodrigueziii Jun 24th 2011 1:26PM
Wait?
Are you saying you want less...
/sunglasses
of Mohr?
Jack Spicer Jun 24th 2011 3:25PM
If he is into WoW they should get Neil Patrick Harris to host, seriously he can make anything interesting.
Chevela Jun 24th 2011 6:51PM
Felicia Day imo.

Well, without giving away too much of a big spoiler for those who have yet to enjoy the new Forsaken starting experience ... the valk'yr raise a very prominent non-human in Silverpine Forest.
MattKrotzer Jun 24th 2011 11:19AM
Glenn Beck?
SaintStryfe Jun 24th 2011 11:34AM
No Matt, Glenn Beck is a human. Sadly, he's just an a-hole.
loop_not_defined Jun 24th 2011 11:55AM
Today is gonna be a good friday.
Natsumi Jun 24th 2011 12:03PM
@loop
If only because we will never have to hear that horrible song Friday ever again.
Apple Jun 24th 2011 12:03PM
True, but if we're thinking of the same scene, that wasn't really a process you can efficiently repeat.
loop_not_defined Jun 24th 2011 12:31PM
Natsume, it appears Rebecca Black's takedown notice was unsuccessful. The video is still on Youtube.
Her chance at repentance was a failure. :(
Skarn Jun 24th 2011 4:17PM
That was an extremely unique situation. Very, very different from the standard "kill something and bring it back" style.
Haden Jun 24th 2011 11:13AM
Ok lets get crazy/funny, mmo champion is still down right? What do you think they data mined, posted and then got the plug pulled because of it?
