The Queue: Hatconomics

In case you didn't hear, Team Fortress 2, a fantastic game in its own right, is now also free to play, forever. How is it financed? Mainly by hats. Lots of hats. Go download it and embrace your inner haberdasher (if you feel like it).
S.O. asked:
Will Jay Mohr be at BlizzCon again this year? If so why do people continue to have him host stuff?
We haven't heard anything about it yet, but it's safe to assume he's returning. Jay Mohr is a comedian who does better when he's off-script, so sometimes the obviously-scripted stuff he does at BlizzCon can be a little awkward or unfunny, but once he actually gets to make fun of nerds, he shines. A lot of people are uncomfortable having their idiosyncracies or the idiosyncracies of their particular subculture brought to light, especially in a "comfortable" environment like BlizzCon, but that's comedy.
What Mohr really has on his side, though, is the fact that he legitimately enjoys hosting BlizzCon. You can't say the same for every celebrity paid to host an event for nerds. In fact, you can hardly say that for any of them.
Chaosdefined asked:
Is there a class where Mastery is actually an important stat? So far on any of my top toons, Mastery is about 5th or 6th on the list of importance.
It's a very important stat for a lot of tank specs (DKs, for example). For DPS, enhancement shaman and ret paladins use it heavily, too. I'm not familiar with healing classes so I couldn't tell you for certain whether any of them stack it.
Mastery serves its purpose, though, in that for most classes it's a "pretty good" stat. It's an additional stat they can put on gear, which helps to mix up itemization a bit, and it does something for everyone.
Elmo asked:
When will Stormwind be fixed? those towers are still burning after six months, the statue of Trollbane is still just a pair of boots and the park is still a large hole...
Time passes strangely in Azeroth. You'll note that it took five years for the Lakeshire bridge to get fixed.
Arrohon asked:
I'm going to create a DK. Any ideas for race (and gender) and name? I'm going for looks. The name can either sound cool or be funny.
No name suggestions (especially since, looking at comments, you already chose the name and races), but I think the Husky skins for male worgen death knights look awesome. I'd encourage anyone looking to roll a new DK to try those.
Tyler asked:
In 4.2, valor points will be converted to Justice points. What is the ratio of this conversion. Does one Valor point = 2 justice points? So if i have 100 VP, after the patch, will those 100 be converted to 200 JP?
It's a 1:1 conversion.
VioletArrows asked:
I'm in the middle of reading The Shattering, and towards the beginning, Anduin and Jaina go on a lot about Varian's split between himself and Lo'Gosh as a reason for his mood swings. When and how did this happen, and where can I read more about it?
That whole storyline is presented through the WoW comic; specifically, every issue before Med'an shows up. You're better off just reading a Wowpedia summary; the comics aren't particularly good, and they get even worse once they lose Ludo Lullabi as their artist.

If you had to hazard a guess, why does Blizzard still include estimated time of service on in-game tickets? I got one yesterday that said I'd be waiting one year, three days, and thirteen hours.
rhorle Jun 25th 2011 1:08PM
BlizzardCS (from twitter)
We are currently investigating a display error with the in-game petition queue average. The wait time displayed may not be accurate.
Starsmore Jun 25th 2011 1:17PM
The estimated time for the completion of our investigation into the problem with the estimated time is:
2797 millennia
43 femtoseconds (or smaller)
about seven
96 fortnights
Late Eocene
91 weeks 46 days 95 hours (approximately)
5321 millennia
1946 geological eras
66 femtoseconds (or smaller)
or...
last Thursday (except on weekends)
Arrohon Jun 25th 2011 2:27PM
I submitted a ticket just last night and was contacted before I found my body (I fell through the ground in Hyjal). It seems that if you're aren't contacted soon after you submit your ticket then it really wasn't too big a deal or they got a lot of big things at once.
llcjay2003 Jun 25th 2011 2:47PM
I could be wrong here, but I seem to remember it being said that certain keywords trigger a higher priority with GM attention. For example, if your character is stuck and hearthing won't fix it, they are notified pretty quickly and respond quickly as well. Like I said, I could be wrong but I read that somewhere.
Jack Spicer Jun 25th 2011 2:48PM
@Arrohon
I cannot comment on the exact method, but I have a feeling that all submitted tickets are scanned soon after they are submitted and then prioritized based on the action called for.
Not being able to unstuck or load your character goes straight to the top of that priority list, so that's why you were contacted so soon.

It would have been funny and sad if after five years of fixing the Lakeshire bridge, Deathwing would have destroyed it in Cataclysm.
Crispn Jun 25th 2011 1:12PM
"Well guys we're done with the bridge finally!"

That joke is done during that quest
vendeurfrancais Jun 26th 2011 5:49PM
well, theres supposed to be gaps in time between expansions, so between wrath and cata, theres supposed to have been about 13 years ai think, so.....
Oreet Jun 25th 2011 1:12PM
As a holy priest i stack a lot of mastery for the free HoT from heals cast. It's not a ton of healing, but any extra healing at no additional mana cost is a great thing in my book.
Patgamer Jun 25th 2011 1:40PM
It's also quite useful for Resto Shaman, I like to balance it with crit.. well I try, I just love seeing 80k+ heals ^_^
I think Resto druids like a bit of mastery as well?
mdspurrier Jun 25th 2011 2:13PM
yes as a resto Druid once we have comfortable mana regen and 9.6% haste (unbuffed) its is all mastery after that. Especially with the new mastery we are getting in 4.2.
JattTheRogue Jun 25th 2011 2:19PM
Assassination rogues love Mastery. It's our highest secondary stat, after the hit cap, of course. It's just a straight damage increase to our poisons.
Minstrel Jun 25th 2011 2:40PM
Mastery is a great stat for disc priests. It boosts all our absorb effects (Power Word: Shield, Divine Aegis). While some stack it if they're exclusively tank healing, it's not generally stacked because all the other stats (haste, spirit, crit) are also really strong for disc.
Mugutu Jun 25th 2011 4:25PM
Mastery is also very strong for cat druids.
destinyshand Jun 25th 2011 4:28PM
Ele loves mastery as much haste, so for ele the secondary stats of choice are spr/hit till hit capped>Haste=Mastery>>>>>crit
Revynn Jun 25th 2011 6:47PM
Arcane mages stack as much Mastery as they can get their hands on.
Trilynne Jun 26th 2011 8:34AM
You almost want to stack Mastery as a pally tank; you still want some stam and parry/dodge for evenness of survivability, but mostly Mastery.
Xayíde Jun 27th 2011 1:58PM
Pally and Warrior tanks stack Mastery above everything else, and I mean everything, even primary stats. Most of their gems are yellow.
