I'm sorry, but when was it "established" that the tauren were around before the titans? They're old- we know that. They were present during the WotA (at least in the revised, post-Knaak continuity). But the fact that they may predate Cenarius' birth does not at all mean they predated the titans- especially considering Cenarius probably wasn't born until well after the titans came. While, yes, we don't know exactly what elune is, it's clear she has some kind of relationship to the Well of Eternity, which was placed by the titans. If Cenarius' mom. It's been speculated, maybe inferred, but at no point was it ever "established" that the tauren predated the titans, and I also seriously doubt that they somehow achieved sentience after the titans landed. I mean, maybe COWS predated the titans, but the tauren? I find that unlikely, in light of what Blizz said.

I play alliance mostly but really appreciate the tauren and their lore. In my world they can be the oldest humanoid race on the planet. Now I just wish they split off from the horde and become their own faction or join the alliance :) /dream.

/agreeing with Noyou. I luvs me the Tauren. I hate - MEGA-HATE having to fight them.

Wait...if Tauren were insentient at one point?... This explains everything! Thousands of years ago, the Tauren were COWS.

Hi Omacron.Yeah, i think it has been stated that the Tuaren have been here pre-titan even. they were around the inception of Cenarious, so they are definately old. this raises the question, when was Cenarious borne? This also leads to when Elune came to Azeroth (or was she always there?) and how the Ancients came to be. For example, did Malorne already live on Azeroth, or was he brought by the Titans?

I'd like for you to find (non RPG) evidence that the tauren predate the titans. As of this Q&A, they don't. Whether that's a retcon, or just going against fanon or the wishes of some players is irrelevant, as Blizz has stated in no uncertain terms that they do not predate the titans.

The Alliance have the Grimtotem now.See, Tauren. Your pleas have been answered!

Uh, no we don't.We have a few quests where we encourage them to stop attacking us while we fight the Horde, and some quests in Thousand Needles where we discover we're teaming up with Magatha.

1 piece of evidence that the Tauren predate the titans...Go visit Ulduar, oh hey, are those Tauren alongside Trolls and Night Elves on the walls as stars?Missing from the star murals are dwarves, humans, gnomes, and other Titan made races.
6-27-2011 @ 1:55PM
Lolwut? Those star constellations in ulduar feature humans and night elves, neither of which predate the titans. Night elves can't predate the titans as they require the WoE to have existed, and humans can't predate the titans since they descend from Vrykul. Troll harder.http://static.mmo-champion.com/mmoc/images/news/2009/february/ulduarsandbox/ulduar_20.jpg

Hey now. No reason to assume Angus was trolling. Those constellations provide an interesting point; we have no idea when those images appeared in Ulduar. On the one hand, at face value it seems likely that the constellations became a part of Ulduar's decor after the tauren and kaldorei came to be. On the other hand, it's possible that, if the Titan facility predates the existence of kaldorei and humans, those constellations aren't images of those races at all; they could be Titans, for all we know (after all, we've never seen one in-game). Between the tauren, trolls, dragon, elf and human constellations, they number six, which covers every member of the Pantheon except Sargeras, and include one female (Eonar). /tinfoil hat

@eloot is that wat happened in the WoW version of the cow level?????

"There's an explanation - and a good one - for all of this!""ELVES!"Clearly, Elves are an offshoot race from Space Goats, who visited the planet long before, along with the Naaru (Elune/Mu’sha and An’she) and Space Cows. Now it all makes sense!
