The Queue: You rang?

How terribly clumsy of me ...
Imnhd45b asked:
Will only one player per guild be able to obtain this staff at one time or can multiple casters go for the staff together???
There's no limit to the number of people in a guild who can be on the Dragonwrath quest or obtain the staff itself. Admittedly, it'd be pretty tough for all of them to get it at the same time, though!
Katters asked:
Why doesn't WoWInsider play nice with RSS readers? All the other blogs and sites I read allow me to read entire articles, and some comments too, right in the reader itself, whereas WoWInsider requires I click to another page to read the whole article. Am I missing something in setup? Is this intentional? Just curious.
Two reasons. First, some of our articles can get rather lengthy, so it'd be a pain to scroll past them if there were no cut. Second, RSS readers don't generate ad views, which are what keeps our site running.
Embobo asked:
Will a new type of currency be introduced that is equal to 100g?
Unlikely. First of all, in the game's database, all prices are in copper anyway. Gold and silver are just a visual convenience for players. Also, money takes up no actual inventory space, so there's no real need to consolidate it, especially since most players never have more than a thousand gold at a time.
Matt P asked:
If you had to hazard a guess, why does Blizzard still include estimated time of service on in-game tickets? I got one yesterday that said I'd be waiting one year, three days, and thirteen hours.
Well, the estimated time indicator was broken as of yesterday; most days, though, it's pretty accurate. Bear in mind that depending on the nature of your ticket, you might get a faster response than indicated even on a busy day. A "stuck" ticket will usually get addressed faster than a harassment ticket, for example. There are definitely hierarchies for priority.

Not to nitpick, but Guy was selling that Vial for 3.5 million gold, not 35k :p He has 9 zeroes not six, though it's probably an oversight on his part because lots of zeroes strung together like that makes it difficult to read (they have a tendency to blend together, which is why we use commas in the English numerical system to break them up).

@shadcroly
WoW currency was stored as a simple 32-bit signed integer (whole number) representing the amount of copper. A string is a different data type. To get the displayed gold/silver/copper in the UI the game would divide that integer by 1000 to get the gold, then divide that remainder by 100 to get silver, and what is left is shown as copper (though in actuality they probably used bit shifting for this calculation).
With the new gold cap they are probably just using a larger integer.

I use an RSS feed to view the WoW Insider site, and I can see all the adds. In case you are wondering, I am using Mozilla Thunderbird to view my RSS feeds with the default settings.

Hmm. I use Google Reader and Reeder for iPad and see no ads. I for one appreciate the honesty - WoW Insider is not a charity, and the writers need to be paid. It frustrates me that I have to click through to the full page - especially when on mobile and the WoW Insider mobile page kicks you back up to the top of the page, breaking the reading flow a bit - but at least owning up that it's a necessity to keep the site running is, I think, admirable.

Ironically I use firefox and see no ads! :D
Prelimar Jun 26th 2011 10:11PM
i never see ads whether i come to the site or not, so your ad views are lost on me. please fix your RSS feeds.
Ruth Jun 27th 2011 5:06AM
I use a website to accumulate all my feeds, that puts them all nice and neatly into an 'order of posting' so I'm able to keep up with them all at work and whatever. I collect a bunch from everywhere, and this way I'm not constantly bombarded with posts if I miss a day or two - I'm sure RSS reader users understand that.
Except for the last month or more, the feeds haven't been updating, and after mulitple fixes on my end and numerous messages via various support links here, I've yet to receive any feedback. This is most annoying. =\

While I do not play on a RP realm, I would like to name/rename a group of characters that I have put to gether as a family; e.g., Twoton Smith, Aggie Smith, Jeremia Jones, Jessie Jones, etc.
I have not found any Blizz documentation that specifically states if names have to be the given name of the character. Allowing a given name and a surname would be an added benefit, especially for RP servers.
Any hope of seeing this at all?
patgamer Jun 26th 2011 2:21PM
I love this idea! but I just know so many people will abuse the hell out of it and we'll see all sorts of stupid combinations ;(
Moeru Jun 26th 2011 2:32PM
Most RP servers use something along the lines of MRP or FlagRSP for that kind of stuff. If there's a vibrant RP community, they will have the addon(s) and will be able to see the surnames/given names you have for them. Even if your toon name is Stabbymcstabby you can name him Sir Rudolph Von Grath if you want, and people with the RP flag addons will see that instead.
While the general populous will not see it, if you're looking to RP with the toons then it's worth seeing into.

You can do this quite easily
... if your last name is Jenkins
brain314 Jun 26th 2011 2:17PM
That would explain all those auctions that list for tens of thousands. They actually never get sold!
Mark403 Jun 26th 2011 2:17PM
do you think that one day blizzard will release an expanision the opposite of cataclysm where all of azeroth has been rebuilt and recovered from the destruction of the cataclysm ..?
biggjudicem Jun 26th 2011 2:28PM
The closest you would get is the Emerald dream and that's pre-sundering/pre-War of the Ancients. Back when there was no Northrend and no Eastern kingdoms.
Emerald Dream has been a popular expansion theory since before they announced Wrath. will we ever see it? only blizz knows
advntrguy Jun 26th 2011 2:40PM
I was actually guessing that Orgrimmar and Stormwind would actually be finished /repaired in a 4.x patch kind of like the Argent Tournament started out as under construction and then was completed in the subsequent patch.
My little brain when even further and I thought that quest chains for Sentinel Hill and Andorhal would be added to put out the fires and finish up the battle for the city.
While I love the 81-85 zones, the 1-60 game is so fantastic to me that I hope the designers give it a little more love in this expansion. I most likely will have my account full of 60th level characters by the next expansion.
Cephas Jun 26th 2011 5:55PM
It sounds like that would involve redoing all (or at least most) of the Kalimdor and EK zones all over again, which certainly isn't going to happen anytime soon. Maybe like six expansions from now.
icepyro Jun 26th 2011 7:57PM
While the theory is sound, and I can imagine them doing an Emerald Dream style expansion, to bring back Kalimdor from the Dream in full is all but an impossibility due to technical reasons and how the zones are handled behind the scene.
As for the original question, I imagine they are going to progress the world some from now on. I definitely foresee a fully (re)built Org/Stormwind by the end of this expansion. I'm not sure how much of the other destruction *can* be recovered/repaired. I mean, if it happened like that on Earth, most of those changes will cool and weather, but probably not fully recover for the rest of the game's time period.

if the expensive things in AH are around 20k~
i think there is no need for 100g equivalent
blizzard did a good job for controlling inflation over more than 7 years
Amaxe Jun 26th 2011 9:19PM
Sure, a 20,000 item now costs 200 Platinum (or whatever) if we keep a base 100.
I think the only reason I would oppose a new coin is I tend to think of 1g = 1$. So when an item is priced at 20,000g I can assess how much that is in relation to other items. Adding the Platinum would probably make that less clear to me,

I miss Karazhan. I do hope they revisit the whole 'Inverted Karazhan" idea from The Last Guardian at some point.
