Yeah, all too familiar a scenario. I have to say, I love the idea of writing down and making a qualified toon list. Include alts, so people have multiple examples of what toons are ready to hit the raids, not just "this person".
Although I dunno, we tried so very hard to get the slackers to nut up. But sometimes they don't like that. They may just get offended and leave. Some people are like that. And really, they can play the game any way they want. If they don't feel like speccing out their characters properly and can only do well enough to run level 60 raids with a iLevel 350 level 85, well, so be it. You can only do so much.
And if they leave, you might find yourself a lot happier. It drained a lot of fun out of my game to constantly check on people. We finally made a set raid list and some people left because they were so offended that their 2k DPS wasn't enough to raid ICC. But it was a relief to see them go. I wish they'd left earlier and we had recruited more people who did care before Cat hit. Prob would have saved my raid team. Hindsight is 20/20. Life is too short to try raiding with people who don't care. Play the way you want to play and find the people who match your mindset.
