"So how do you track the cooldowns on your abilities?"To monitor my cooldowns I've been using TellMeWhen (http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/tellmewhen.aspx), and never felt the need to move to PowerAuras. It's a little odd to set up (it used to be much worse - its no worse than PowerAuras now), but it's brilliant for showing when buffs or debuffs are missing, abilities are on/off cooldowns, conditional casts are ready (more than 6 stacks of lightning shield when I'm elemental, for example), and pretty much everything you want an alert for. With Cata I've been using the built-in auras when they apply, but there are things they just don't do, and TellMeWhen does them for me.

I use TellmeWhen for all my characters, it really is a great addon. I use it alongside Power Auras to show cooldowns and procs. It has advanced so much in the last few months as well, there is so much you can do with it. I highly recommend it if you want a simple display of icons showing cooldowns/procs or whatever you like.
