Tuesday Morning Post: By patch day be purged edition
As you might expect, downtime is currently scheduled for 3 a.m. to 11 a.m. Pacific time, so even if everything goes smoothly, you'll still have plenty of time to read up on patch 4.2 before the servers come up. I recommend starting with Mat's excellent patch 4.2 roundup. Then you can check after the break for a quick roundup of all the other good stuff from the past seven days. Don't stop once that's done with, though; we'll have plenty more piping hot patch 4.2 news and info for you in the coming days and weeks.

Just saying a quick thank you to our American friends beta testing the patch for us across the pond, it goes someway in reducing my BURNING jealousy of being a day behind. And yes I did just do that terrible, terrible joke have fun all :)
Billlop Jun 28th 2011 6:31AM
You gotta remember though, Americans cant even play the patch until 5pm GMT. Wheras we can play the patch at 10am GMT (albeit a day later)

Hm. 05:00 PDT at this writing, and no patch download. Odd.
CVSoprano Jun 28th 2011 8:32AM
No patch yet as of 0830 EDT. Odd indeed.

I get off work 1 hour after servers go down...but by the time I wake up they'll be live :D This, however, is irrelevant to what I truly intended to post here:
I want to thank all the writers at WoW Insider for doing an awesome job. Today marks one year since I discovered this site and I frakin' love it! I originally got hooked on Christian Belt's insanely insightful mage articles (and mutual love for watching warlocks die in a fire) and the writer's mysteries--does Sacco's hair REALLY smell like strawberry, after all?--and humor has kept me coming back.
And by far my fave is the Know Your Lore articles. I didn't know my WoW lore before last year. Now I drool everytime I see KYL (and KYL TFH editions) come across my screen.
I never comment on here but wanted to say great job, kudos, and thanks to all the writers here. And the commenters, too, whom always manage to give me a good chuckle one way or another :D

This. There are yoo many great writers and columns to list them all. Thank you all for creating such an awesome news site/ezine!

Some folks noted that no new patch data is being pushed out right now with the servers down, and frankly, I had noticed that the background downloader has not been active this cycle too. Did anybody get any data pushed out early? Is anybody getting new patch data now? Or are some people suffering from broken clients?
Blizzard has said that it's patch day. There's gotta be some new data. Has anybody seen it?
Herpderp Jun 28th 2011 7:35AM
I just went to www.worldofwarcraft.com and got this:
"We’ll be back soon!
The Blizzard family of websites is currently undergoing maintenance to improve your browsing experience. Thank you for your patience!"
Maybe it's rolling out shortly? The site was up an hour ago, I checked for any official word on patch release. Their twitter was last updated 6hrs ago so IDK!

My Updates folder got 9 wow-xxxxx-xxxxx-Win-final.MPQ files this am at 7:51EST

If memory serves, 4.1's patch had a whole lot of data for 4.2; and if you havent notoced the background downloader then its doin its job (bein in the background and all!) I do remember mousing over my latency bar to check my fps after I put my new cards in about 2 weeks ago (shameless plug for the gtx 570!!) and saw that it was infact downloading something.
Basically. Yes it is patch day. The question is; can we just walk all up in sulfuron spire? Or do we have to 'unlock' it with all these dailies!!
ugoticedbro Jun 28th 2011 12:59PM
I had it downloading patch data on the background downloader a week ago. Probably happened then and no one noticed

As with every major patch, don't expect to be able to play properly today.
Odds are very good that there will be an "unexpected" maintenance extension.
To all you people who like to take off work on patch days and wait for servers to come back up, and then rage when it's not back online right on schedule, I would suggest you find a good book or game to tide you over.
shatto.a Jun 28th 2011 9:56AM
I'm surprised you didn't make a "TOO SOON EXECUTUS" joke.
