Patch 4.2 hotfixes for June 28

Is anyone else kind of blown away by the lack of major bugs with today's big 4.2 patch? I know I am. Regardless of how smoothly things seem to be going, we do have some hotfixes today, fresh from the official World of Warcraft blog. Included are a few tweaks to the Elemental Bonds quest chain that starts in Hyjal and a tweak to Blackwing Descent:
- In the Elemental Bonds quest chain, Aggra's bubble during the Elemental Bonds: Desire event is now a lot bigger and a lot more sparkly. In additional, players should be able to turn in the quest Into Constant Earth to Therazane regardless of what stage of Deepholm progression they happen to be in.
- In Blackwing Descent, Atramedes' Sonar Pulses should properly move toward raid members when spawned underneath him.
Follow after the break for the full list of hotfixes.

What they need to do is make the four areas of the Thrall quest chain phased Sanctuaries. Or at least change the quests so that if you're killed, your "bar" doesn't reset to zero.
Did they really not expect people to NOT kill each other given the chance?

I was actually wondering if the fire stage of that quest turned on peoples PvP flags at one point.
I actually ended up having to go PvP spec and put on my PvP gear in order to murder anyone who looked at me cockeyed just so I could finish it after the fifth time I got ganked.
Trish Jun 29th 2011 1:33AM
omy..Yes..gank fests going on. It would be a little nicer to be able pick up where you left off between getting killed.
Mackeli Jun 29th 2011 1:36AM
I personally have had heaps of fun today (on a pve server) meeting new people starting groups and running around pvping but when the other side outnumbers you 5:1 it does get near impossible to finish the quests
Amaxe Jun 29th 2011 1:50AM
Yeah, that's what I thought. Sanctuary is definitely needed to do these.
When I did it on my toons, there were about 20 horde, all flagged deliberately standing in the way. For my pally and druid I could do it fairly well, but my dk and shaman, it became more of a problem because of auto attacks switching to the flagged horde.
The only way for me to do the quests was to just fire a single ranged attack and let the Horde gankers kill the mobs for me. Hell, my feral druid switched to my off spec boomkin so I could just hit each mob with moonfire.
I'm glad that isn't a daily.

Yeah I ended up hearthing out of the Firelands because it was impossible to do the quests with the non-stop ganks. Turns out I couldn't find my way back to that area so I had to abandon the quest. At least I have alts I can do it on.

The air/wind sanctuary was the worst offender in my book. It was like the enemy Shamans were in a single chat channel betting on which one could get the best distance on a well timed Thunderstorm.

Gotta say I agree here... its one thong on a pvp server... but on an rp server when some sets themselves to flagged something is gonna hit them and flag you ( with your pants down no less) though at least got an awesome cloak.

I just want to say.
I am SO SORRY to about 15 hordies whose lives I made miserable today. At first it was accidental due to alt tabbing, but I definitely started hunting you guys by the fire zone.
Ez Jun 29th 2011 5:07AM
I did it on PTR, it is a group quest. so go on local channel and LFG! Then you will complete it even if you die.

I had a ret paladin flagged in the middle of a pack of elementals in the starting quests at Hyjal. He so enjoyed pounding my paladin in PVE Holy gear.
While PVP servers should expect fights like that, on PVE servers it is a bit of a dick move.
I do feel better though. Me being prot and coming back proved to be a bit less fun for him.
Especially when I flew above and dive-bombed him when he rezzed thinking I was gone.
He waited out his flag while 4 people he had done this to took turns teabagging him.
Savonti Jun 29th 2011 7:52AM
Yeah we had a bunch of alliance flagged, causing trouble on my server. It was annoying but not a big deal, I just didn't hit them. I mean unless you're on a pvp server they can't make you flag.
Cheb Jun 29th 2011 8:04AM
Oh god if only. It took me about an hour to run my parents through the Thrall quests. My mom was so scared of hitting a flagged horde she wouldn't tag anything at less than 50% health. We spent so long at the wind place, it was ridiculous. The water and earth areas were better, since the flagged horde were mostly standing on top of Aggra and not running around killing anything. Fire was terrible again. I'm really surprised we only had one of us flag once. At least it was on the wind place, where you can jump off the edge and escape.
We ended up making /tar /cast macros to tag mobs and /tar Aggra and the 'interact with target' keybind to turn in. At the fire and wind places we just tagged and moved on to the next mob and let the horde kill our stuff for us.
I'm thankful my next alt is only in the 60s now. When she dings 85, all this ridiculousness should be over. -.-
Straz Jun 29th 2011 8:32AM
Like Ez said, group up with some people and you won't have that problem. Or, if you get ganked on a PvE server, wait your flag out at the graveyard.
Othgan Jun 29th 2011 8:34AM
I actually enjoyed the PvP, but we Horde outnumbered the Alliance so that might have something to do with it. I'm on a PvP server so you can't unflag yourself, and the wind place was so cramped I would hit and kill people with a mistimed Howling Blast. Fire was actually pretty even for the horde:alliance ratio. But Horde has better PvPers so we took over pretty fast. Griefers were killing people before they went up the ramp.
Grovinofdarkhour Jun 29th 2011 10:30AM
I haven't been more thankful than I was last night that they finally fixed the hunter "auto-retargeting" bug.
Several flagged hordies - more of them than there were of us - at each and every step of the Thrall chain, but so long as I didn't multi-shot, I was fine.
perasitewow Jun 29th 2011 11:16AM
Now way, the PVP was the best part of these quests! I had such a blast. I've faction-changed to horde, so I even got a chance to kill two former guildmates from the alliance side. We all got a good chuckle out of that :)
Moeru Jun 29th 2011 2:35PM
I was a pally tank on a mostly PvE server. I got flagged at one point, most people ignored me but those that did attack me I just kinda lol'ed and killed them.
JC_Icefox Jun 29th 2011 12:26AM
Ah, I was waiting for this to happen.
I, for one, think that knowing there will be a bevy of these in the next few weeks (months, really) I am sick to -death- of Gnomes doing...Gnome things.
I request, nay demand! That we get some Goblin Engineer/Sapper/Exploding types.
