The Classifieds: If women ruled WoW ...
Work warning Some naughty language and sexual implications in this video.
If Women rule WoW ... features one heck of a community get-together. It stars Jesse Cox, Wowcrendor, Gigi, Chiib, Letomi, TradeChat, Cryssy, Quixotica, and Aevynne. The video itself was created by WoPairs.
This comedy sketch looks at the idea that if women ruled WoW and behaved like many of the male players, then things might be a little different. While the behavior is certainly exaggerated, enough of these rude comments and lewd attempts do happen in day-to-day WoW. While you probably shouldn't take this video purely as a public service announcement ... well, then again, maybe you should.
Random Acts of Uberness
It's when another player lights up your night with precise play, a wicked sense of humor or unexpected generosity that your login becomes something to remember. Share your Random Acts of Uberness with theclassifieds@wowinsider.com. Keep things brief (150 words or less, please), and be sure to list everyone's character names and home realms or battlegroup. Don't be afraid of sending an entry more than once if it doesn't appear; sometimes internet dragons eat email, and we'd hate to let that keep deserving players from getting their due.

Employment: Guild recruitment

Moon Guard raiding Old Gods waking up doesn't seem like a great idea. R'lyeh Awakened (US-Moon Guard) is a Horde 10man raiding guild that has been around since mid-WotLK. We are one of those tight-knit guilds of friends who push through raid content at our own pace. We are looking for a rogue to complete our core team as we push onward to the Firelands. Players interested in 5-man content, as well as just a social guild would be accepted with open arms as well. There are opportunities to participate in alt runs, fill in core spots or join partial PUGS with guildmates too. Our raid times as of now are Saturday (7-11) and Sunday (7-10) CST. Also, we do have roleplayers we don't rp as a guild. For more information feel free to pst Parae in game, /who R'lyeh or contact us via our forum post here: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/2721384365
Old Gods abound This is Old God week for recruiting, I guess. Cthulhu is recruiting exceptional players for Firelands! We are a relatively new guild formed on the Gul'Dan server by players with 12/13 HM experience in current content and are now seeking skilled players to join our team to push for server first progression in Firelands. We have recently completed our first week of 25 man raiding and are #4 on the server (http://www.guildox.com/go/g.asp?a=1&r=Gul%27dan-US - 6/13 H 25, 6/13 H 10 man) and are looking to bolster our ranks with strong DPSers and replace some weak links. The current server first guild has only cleared 8/13 HM in current content, putting us in close competition and in an easy place to surpass them in Firelands.
Not Old Gods "Nephilim" refers to a biblical term, "Giants in the Earth." Not Old Gods, but maybe old critters. The Nephilim is an international PVE-focused guild who raid 19.30-23.30 four nights a week. We are a very old guild, dating back to classic WoW. Currently we can be found on the allience side of Neptulon EU. We are looking for skilled, dedicated and mature raiders who enjoy having lots of fun on and off raiding hours. That's hilarious!
wutsconflag Jun 29th 2011 7:16PM
It's funny, cause 8 of the 10 people in my standard raid group are women. True facts.
Kaylin Jun 29th 2011 7:18PM
Gnomes are the best, gnome players included.
Terethall Jun 29th 2011 7:24PM
I would hate it if a ton of women started hitting on me for playing video games! HOW ANNOYING.
What a terrible person I must be as a man. Lesson learned.
WakaFlaka Jun 29th 2011 7:40PM
I think the video just proves that not only do women not belong on the internet, they don't belong doing comedy either
cakeordeath Jun 30th 2011 3:17AM
amen...soo many terrible women comedians, chelsea handler, margaret cho, ellen, whoopi, kathy griffin, rosanne, rosie odonnel, wanda sykes, sara silverman. etc...and add these chicks to the list of fail.
Oteo Jun 29th 2011 7:45PM
I've never had anyone hit on me or go "omg a girl" when I get on Vent for pugs, but maybe I just sound like a 12 year old boy?
Dreyja Jun 29th 2011 9:05PM
Exactly, one of our two GMs are female and I'd say that over half of our active members are also ladies. Perhaps in guilds full of teenage boys, this is common but it would just be silly in my guild. Our raid teams are full of gals. XD
I know it happens a lot on trade-chat though.
Sleutel Jun 29th 2011 9:48PM
I get it in PUGs all the time. Possibly because I tank, though, and there are even fewer of us than the other roles.

I've had it a fair bit, and whispers telling me my accent is, like, totally hawt (Australian). Worst was back in ICC, joined Vent to hear middle-aged men discussing strats. I said hi, and they immediately started asking if I'd be okay, and they were there to protect me, "don't worry darlin'". I just alt-F4'd in a fury.
ioncat Jun 29th 2011 7:52PM
I honestly believe that this idea of men in the WoW community being a bunch of tactless douches is something of a stigma. The folks I play with are all good people with well enough manners. I think it's fair to say that the ones doing the 'tits or gtfo' nonsense are likely children.
Lipstick Jun 29th 2011 7:58PM
You'd be surprised. I don't think there is a single thing in this video I haven't heard in my travels through wow as a female player at least once.
ioncat Jun 29th 2011 8:30PM
@lipstick
I wouldn't, actually. My wife plays WoW with me, and I've seen some of the silly things people have said to her. I'm not denying that it happens, I'm denying that it's MEN doing it. It's more likely children within the 10-17 bracket.

The guys in my guild... I love em like brothers-from-another-mother. They have their moments of pseudo-sexist shenannigans but they are really good guys who derive most of their comedy from exaggerated "bromance" and general bloopers. And that's why I play alongside whom I play with-- which could be said (hopefully) for the majority of the WoW population. I can't imagine anyone who would play with a group of other people they didn't like. I digress...
But like many stereotypes, they actually have some grounding in fact and actual occurrences. When I was in my Alliance guild with my original main a good while back, a guildmate found out I was female because of something I'd said during the course of the guild conversation-- probably something to do with my mom and me always being "her little girl." He was suddenly aghast and immediately asked, "Wait, are you the GM's wife or gf?" thinking I'd report him for something he'd said that wasn't exactly kind toward our current GM. The fact that he immediately assumed I was only in the guild, as an officer and playing the game because I was the "other half" of someone else in the guild is the sort of thing that propel such ideas. I wasn't the GM's anything, other than his go-to person for keeping up guild morale and recruitment.
So this sort of stuff does happen, but I don't go everywhere in WoW bracing for the next "omg ur a gurl wtfbbq?!??!?!!" moment. That's just silly. Stereotypes work both ways: people who act in accordance with a stereotype and people who are constantly on the defense against a stereotype both perpetuate the problem.
To be honest, though, I do have to agree with you, Ioncat: the guy in question *was* a child and the guys who do engage in such behavior seriously are in need of maturing, regardless of their chronological age.

Loved it!
Lipstick Jun 29th 2011 7:56PM
I hate to say this .. but my favorite part of the video is where the troll asks the guy if his girlfriend treats him right.. if she's very attractive.. because that exact thing happens in real life too, not just in the game world. I have met more than my fair share of guys at a bar who don't accept "I have a boyfriend" as clue to scram. They start asking you questions to try to make your boyfriend isn't a very good guy .. so that you should just hook up with them instead.
Magma Jun 29th 2011 7:57PM
Women running wow? That sounds pretty gay. You know, cause tons of women..is gay and stuff.
Mortenebra Jun 29th 2011 8:10PM
Oh yeah?! Well... UR MOM'S A WOMAN! SO THERE!
Magma Jun 29th 2011 8:25PM
I love how a blatant joke gets downrated. I honestly thought the sarcasm was pretty clear..
blancester Jun 29th 2011 8:30PM
A happy internet, is it 2012 already?
