Melvenor is a very well-known name among machinima fans. His knack for both visuals and lore-steeped stories makes his work beautiful, engaging, and interesting. You get the sense watching his videos that you're watching something nearly straight from Blizzard itself; they demonstrate both professionalism and knowledge about the world of Azeroth.
The Gilnean Fallow is a prologue for the next chapter of the Face of Cataclysm. Melvenor has pieced together a film memorializing the lost city of Gilneas. Lost to the Forsaken, Gilnean pride is carried throughout the rest of the world. Melvenor captured the last moments in a narrative that hints at his ongoing story.
This is really an incredible piece; take the time to check it out.

Absolutely gorgeous, visually - but since I (to paraphrase Dragonlance) tend to get nosebleeds when confronted with poetry, it was a hard slog listening-wise.
Still, I made it to the end, which means it MUST be quite good :)
The problem with a lot of poetry in fiction, is that the creator isn't comfortable with the form. His or her area of expertise is often in another media; music (the technical aspect), moviemaking or storytelling etc. And while for many there is a fine, or perhaps no line, between the different modes of expression, in reality there isn't as much a line, rather than a huge gaping chasm. Poetry even if you don't like it (the theme, topic, rendition etc.) takes time to be good at, and it takes dedication to the craft itself. But many times where poetry is simply used in another media for the sake of conjuring up a mood or adding depth to a character or setting, it is often not written by someone skilled at it, and it takes the form of mere mimicry. I think this is the biggest reason why so much poetry in other media fails, unless ofcourse you simply dislike the art form itself, a sad delusion from which a random post can't save you.
On topic, was a nice piece, yes the voice acting wasn't spot on and the poetry did seem a bit plastered on, rather than grown within the piece. But all in all a decent teaser, I am curious as what will come next.
I thought there was something funny about his accent - can't quite work out if it's genuine or if he was trying to imitate an Englishman, but I thoroughly enjoyed it visually. The speech was brilliant.
That was the single most amazing piece of Gilnean work I've ever seen, to be quite honest. Bless his heart for doing such an amazing, in-depth job on it. Three cheers!
Absolutely amazing video, good enough to inspire me to go and look at the other "Faces of Cataclysm" videos he's done (also fantastic, but I'm a bit confused as to where he is going with the series).
The one thing that bothered me, though, was the way the mouths moved in the video. Something about it just threw me off. But that's not the machinimists fault. That's the fault of the models, for having wierd mouths.
This is nicely done. However, it was posted on 7-1, it is now 7-5, and I belive this is a daily post? It's listed as a daily. Having trouble finding new videos? May I suggest old ones? "THE HARDWARE STORE" is always fun, and Oxhorn has a bank full of excellent work. Baron Soos has something about a gnome and a tauren in WSG that's a hoot, can't recall the name. Anything by Cranius, "Wrought" is a wonderfull story, as is his cover of "HIGHWAYMEN" . i DON'T MEAN TO NAG, BUT PLEASE, MORE VIDEOS!!

Amazing work there, especially the 'never surrender' speech - thought that was an especially well done performance.

Oh, definitely; it's like when a musician decides to direct a movie. Usually quite ... not good.

Does anyone else here think Liam's voice actor in this sounded a hell of a lot like the original voice actor from the game? :D Well done!

The speech is pretty amazing to say the least.
