Back in 2006, when I was on disability a friend (who had been invited by a co-worker) gave me some sort of trial code (this was before Recruit a friend). I liked it enough to buy a copy and put in the registration code to play for real. I think I dinged 60 about 2 weeks to a month before TBC came out.

Since then, I've been on-again, off-again. I keep saying I can't wait for [X] (last time it was Warhammer) but I never really leave for long
