"Vengeance of the Void" leak is a fake

It's a fake.
Our highly vetted internal sources at Blizzard have confirmed it's a fake. Blizzard's memos don't even look like that. If you're interested in reading the fake leak, you can do so via the image below.Filed under: News items

I don't always leak information, but when I do it's fake anyways
Stay thirsty for content my friends.

The header for the article should have been the scene from DS9 "It's a faaaaaake!"

Hmm, I guess that explains today's Daily Bink:

- Around the office we're joking that this Xpac is the "Scooby Doo expansion" due to the main plotpoint where we learn that Alexstraza is actually Deathwing, Deathwing is actually C'thun, C'thun is actually Hogger, Hogger is dead, and Hogger's brother, Hoggerer, is to be the next King of Stormwind.
- Out of all of this, Varian Wyrnn will learn the meaning of friendship, step down, and live in Thrall's hut with Thrall and Aggra. Aggra will not take this well. She will run off, in a fit of ironic pique, with Jaina Proudmoore... who is secretly Alexstraza.
(I snorted reading this. True story!)

It sounded like a really lame expansion, anyway.

Three things:
1. I'm glad that Blizzard's internal memos don't look like that. All the made up abbreviations make it difficult (read: unbearable) to read.
2. That sounds like a really stupid expansion.
3. No, really. A'dal turns evil? As if WoW didn't have enough Face Heel Turns already. But wait, it still helps players out? That's not very evil at all. Would it be playing a Xanatos Gambit? Stupid, stupid, stupid plot point. The Star Trek movies have smarter plot points.

There are tropers among us!
They need to use more subversions of this to spice things up a bit, but Heel Face Turns, I Got Better, and He Who Fights Monsters seem to be recurring tropes of in WoW bosses.

"But wait, it still helps players out? That's not very evil at all. Would it be playing a Xanatos Gambit? Stupid, stupid, stupid plot point."
Call me crazy, but I'd really quite like to have an "evil" character who isn't so "HURR DURR I'MA KILL ALL YOU MAGGOTS CUZ I'M SO DAMN EVIL." I mean, let's face it, virtually every villain in WoW these days has become a one-dimensional moron who was either:
a) always evil from the start, and just undercover
b) corrupted
c) insane
d) just out to kill us all anyway
While agree there's way too much "haw haw, fooled ya!" betrayals in WoW, methinks it'd be nice to have an enemy is isn't just a complete faceless bastard.
For instance, it could seem benevolent just to use the players to kill off some of the Burning Legion. Then it'd be a smart enemy, an intelligent enemy, a worthwhile enemy. Not just a "MY AXE CRUSH UR FACE LOL" enemy.

Az a note mal banks is one of my favorite baddies in wrath. What is funny is he had a sort of an interesting angle - vengance on Arthus... but what's funny is the rest of the legion wasn't really all bent out of shape that the deed lord got downed... it would be interesting to see him back trying to further a personal agenda against the legion... i'm sure dred lords hold nasty grudges.

In this, Drakuru was a great villain. You suspected there was something shady going on, but he won you over with his praise and his genuine belief that you were becoming friends and had a big future together.
Then you got to Drak'Tharon and suddenly your mom was Darth Vader all along.

Wow, it even says its a fake, at the end of that picture. Shadow priests are a spec, not a full blown class.....looks cool, sounds cool, but blizz has stated before that they wanted to alternate hero classes and races, and so far thats how its gone. Original 4 races, first expac we got a new race, second a class and third a new race, next we should get another class, although i don't have the slightest clue as to what they could possibly turn into another hero class unless it was some sort of a demon hunter class.
shadcroly Jul 3rd 2011 11:50PM
Runemaster, all the way.
Avan Jul 3rd 2011 11:54PM
Aren't death knights already masters of the rune?
If Blizzard ever does add a new class (hero or not), then that class needs to use spellpower plate.
adyuaa Jul 4th 2011 12:17AM
Darkmoon Fairie class. I will continue to mention them every time it comes up in hopes that ten expansions from now, it'll be true.
twbrienn Jul 4th 2011 1:09AM
I'm hoping we get the Archons.
Nina Katarina Jul 4th 2011 7:37AM
@Avan
"If Blizzard adds another class, it needs to use spellpower plate"
Spellpower chain is only usable by two subclasses, as is spellpower leather. Leather as a whole is usable by 2 classes, chain by 2, plate by 3 and cloth by 3. I can see an argument for the next hero class to wear chain or leather as their basic armament.
It would be cool if one subclass contained a talent to wear a higher form of armor, but I can see an inherant problem with switching specs while being in the wrong armor type.
Arrohon Jul 4th 2011 9:46AM
Plate is wearable by three classes. Total of 9 specs. 3 of them are tanking specs so that reduces it to 6. DKs, and warriors both have 2 melee dps specs so that reduces it to 2 pally specs. Ret is melee dps so that means that Holy Pallies are the ONLY spec that uses spellpower plate. Currently having a holy pally in your group should help progression because they are viable healers and the only spec that uses an entire type of armor. If those pieces drop and you don't have a holy pally then your raid is slightly hindered as it's a piece that doesn't help anyone.

Demon Hunters!
Oteo Jul 3rd 2011 11:50PM
Vengeance of the Void is a lame name for an expansion anyway.
