"Vengeance of the Void" leak is a fake

Today, there is a rumor going around of a "Vengeance of the Void" leak, detailing some of the aspects of the next expansion.

It's a fake.

Our highly vetted internal sources at Blizzard have confirmed it's a fake. Blizzard's memos don't even look like that. If you're interested in reading the fake leak, you can do so via the image below.

This article would have been better with a picture of that Romulan Senator holding up the fake data rod and the caption "It's a faaake!"

Since when are the Ethereals and Naga "fan favorite" races to be added to Horde/Alliance? Furbolgs, Pandaren, and Murlocs come up far more often. In fact I've never even heard the Ethereal suggested as being a playable race.

They'd look stupid in player armor, too.

Well every major WoW boss does seem to have become corrupted - whether it's Arthas or Kael or even Illidan so the next expansion will probably have another 'oh noes he/she is corrupted and has been all along' end boss.

I would prefer to have Mary Sue Thrall and his annoying brown turd mate corrupted so that raids could go and beat their ass'es down.

Wow, not only is this fake, it's a BAD fake. Demon Hunters enter a prominent role in the expansion but aren't playable? Deadwind Pass becomes a 1-10 zone? There's a new enemy with the incredibly original name of "The Void"? One of the zones is called "Crash Site"?

The only thing I hate more than an attempt at deception is a sloppy attempt at deception; sort of like the scammers who try to masquerade as Blizzard employees but have atrocious grammar.

I'd love that for a future breakfast topic - write your own fake next expansion leak.

The problem with this isn't that it's fake, it's that it's a bad fake. There are bits in there that are nice, but the Deadwind Pass and shadow priest class mistakes give it away fairly thoroughly. I'm sure the readers here could come up with much better fakes.

As an added bonus, the Blizz folks could see what sort of fake announcements gets us fans excited and possibly derail any ideas that receive universal derision.

And the majority would have already went and checked for preorder dates.

translated i believe it means:
"thank god for MMO-Champion"

Here is the main reason why this is fake: its not the spelling errors, its not the ccrap about shadow priests, and its not the new races or the name. it is the plain and simple fact that this blizzcon is too early to announcing a new expansion especially when we are not even halfway through the previous expansion.

Look back to then when all the expansions were revealed. when cata was revealed, the Colosium had been out for a bit. wrath was announced 2 months before 2.3 was released which was also a good 8 months since 2.1 was lreased which opened up Black temple and the CoT Hyjal raid. In essence when every expansion was announced, it was done when the current expansion was at least 1 year in. We havent even hit the first year into this expasion.

Except they've said they want to start doing an expansion a year.

As much as I am not crazy about that idea, it's still the plan.

I expect a teaser at Blizzcon. Not anything more, mind you, but yes, a teaser.

they have been saying that line since burning crusade and do you know why? because it took them 3 years to make Burning Crusade. They didnt take 3 years to make wrath, they 2 and they took 2 years to make cata. The thing is its impossible for blizzard to churn out an expansion on a yearly base because they dont have the man power and despite what people would claim, blizzard is pretty god damn through when it comes to debugging and fixing exploits etc etc etc.

Also lets look that the current patch cycle, we have only just had the second teir of raiding released and theres still 2 more raid teirs left with those being the War of the Acients raid ( please lets us kill rhonin krasus and brox for fucking up the time stream) and the Raid against Deathwing.

Then theres also patch 4.1 with the remaking of ZA and ZG which gave us new lore on the Trolls and points to a South Seas expansion or another South Seas hinted patch.

Many people actually call specs classes. Players and a few people in Blizzard call them classes. It annoys me. It's wrong but nothing you can do about it :/

The same problem if you are a Fury warrior with Titan Grip and switch to arms/prot: off hand weapon goes to bags.

A'dal is just not iconic enough of a character to use as a main expansion boss, and every expansion end boss so far has been someone who was already an iconic character and major villain (or close to being one, read: Illidan) in the lore.

I don't think they would have another race crash-land on the planet in a space ship during an escape, personally. What are the odds?

Deathwing will probably not be fought anywhere near the Dark Portal, and in fact I think they're much more likely to announce Deathwing's raid at this Blizzcon (if that) than the next expansion. If they were to announce it now, it'd be like having announced Cataclysm while Ulduar was still hot.
