Have you ever found bored NPCs?

While leveling an alt through Northrend recently -- more specifically, on the quest It Could Kill Us All
While doing archaeology, I've seen some zombies jump from wall to wall on the troll ruins in Stranglethorn Vale. But that isn't something a player could actually do out of boredom, such as bench hopping -- the distance they jump is too great. It made me curious, though: Are there other NPCs out there that act inordinately player-controlled? Not as in generic city guard walking from point A to point B or the conversations that take place regularly, but as in erratic actions, seemingly random hopping, or other typical boredom actions? Are there more NPCs like the Shandaral Spirits out there?

Dalaran has a full set of alliance and horde NPC Players that do cool things like walk up to trainers and "learn" professions and recipes. They're also decked out in old tier gear.

The ever dancing ogre in Feralas.

I've seen the trash in... I think it was Grim Batol playing catch with fireballs while the healer was drinking again, and the faceless ones in Vash'jir talk to the Gilbolbins.
Also, the mailbox outside the Aldor inn will short-circut and the engineer next to it will whack it with an Arclight Spanner to repair it on occasion.

I saw some NPCs walljumping up a mountain in Hyjal earlier today, but I think that was a glitch. :D
On a more serious note, have you guys done the quests in Hillsbrad Foothills where you become an NPC? They're absolutely hilarious.

That's the first thing I thought of when I read the question.

I enjoyed the post-NPC bit where you wind up rescuing each of them.
Oh, and seeing Johnny Awesome during the Molten Front daily was great: "Johnny! Awesome!"

The mage and warlock trainers in the Lost Isles are constantly locked in battle! They hurl fireballs and all stuff at each other. It is truly entertaining ;)

And the shaman trainer gets in on it later on too!
cloudhopper013 Jul 6th 2011 11:26PM
To be more specific, the shaman trainer gets in on it primarily with the goal to shut them both up. Oh, and they're still fighting over in Bilgewater Harbor if you manage to find them. :P

Do the Wave Striders on the Feralas shore still... um... get bubbly when bored?
Tirrimas Jul 6th 2011 11:17PM
Yes. They "bubble", turn around, pop one, then shake their heads.

Grunt Thathung. Since he stopped being an auctioneer he's become a real card. I could have sworn one day he said something about buying mysterious fortune cards too often, and looking it up there's no quests associated with him.
eclipse Jul 6th 2011 9:25PM
I believe he accepts the daily inscription quest "Forged Documents" http://www.wowhead.com/quest=27686
Most of the NPCs you can turn that quest in to say something amusing when you complete the quest.
Grunt Grimful says "I really need to stop gambling. Tell them no more cards for me."
Funny stuff.
tchernobyl Jul 6th 2011 9:39PM
Echoing grunt Thathung. If you watch him, he walks in and out of the auction house in valley of strength. However, when walking OUT, he will walk up to the part of the platform where the mailbox is... then JUMP over it. And not say a word. Then keep patrolling.
I find it rather odd XD
Xantenise Jul 7th 2011 3:07AM
Lol, Thathung.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Asric & Jadaar yet. Who knows, we might even see them in Undermine when that's opened up.
Kook Jul 6th 2011 9:57PM
How have I missed these guys?? They're awesome!
(http://www.wowwiki.com/Asric is a good recap for anyone like me who hadn't seen them before)
I really hope they turn up again somewhere in Cata!
