Wait, I'm confused. Didn't a previous column say haste is now our worst stat?http://wow.joystiq.com/2011/06/15/spiritual-guidance-patch-4-2-shadow-priest-trinkets/#continued

"Best-in-slot, non-heroic geared, four-piece tier 11 shadow priest on a Patchwerk (stand-and-DPS type) fight"Is what the stats apply too. Simulationcraft will probably be devaluing haste in that gear setup; possible due to haste soft caps and the like. I'd also note that Crit gains more value in a movement heavy fight and mastery devalues (less time for channeled Mind Flay casts and Mind Blasts, so less shadow orbs generated) which is a more likely situation in the real world.

I remember the same article. When 4.2 hit, I took off a bunch of the haste I had to get Mastery back up into contention...I dropped from an avg of 18kdps to 14kdps. Not good at all. I put some of it back to haste (ran out of gold) and plan on putting the rest of the haste back from Crit (per this article) tonight. Lol. Lets see how this works.

Well, here's the thing -- we're not exactly sure what the best stat is right now. According to Simulationcraft, haste is our best stat. Except when it's mastery.http://simulationcraft.org/420/Priest_T12_Shadow_HeavyMove.htmlhttp://simulationcraft.org/420/Priest_T12_Shadow_LightMove.htmlhttp://simulationcraft.org/420/Priest_T12_Shadow_Patchwerk.htmlI'm sure I'll wind up doing another column on shadow priest stats again, but here's where I am now on the issue:Over at Shadowpriest.com (and on that linked article), Kilee gives a rating of haste > mastery > crit. The folks at Mr. Robot get different weightings, but they do shake out as haste > mastery > crit, too.I've simmed a number of different builds and found a number of different stat weightings. What I think is useful for shadow priests is not necessarily a specific weighting rounded to two decimal places, but a general stat strategy. What I (and Kilee) propose is this: Stack haste to 30%, the point where you're guaranteed an extra tick from Vampiric Embrace. While I feel SimulationCraft (and Kilee) over states the value of these breakpoints, you cannot deny that they do hold inherent value. It's the most compelling break point target to aim for this tier, so ... let's aim for it.Just remember, different fights will have different stats favored over others. We'll never find a one-size-fits-all build, because one simply does not exist.

Ah. Thanks for the clarification, Fox. That does make a lot more sense. I've got my unbuffed haste to about 23% with reforging, gems and enchants (mostly. I need to do bracers still), without having any tier 11 gear yet. I have some crafted 359's, some Rep 359's, and some ZG/ZA 353's. I only have 1 346 item left (trinket). I finally found a guild that is raiding at the time I can participate, and they plan on working on tier 11 stuff for now, which is fine with me. I should be able to hit that 30% easy, eventually. Lol. Thanks again for the great articles. I really enjoy reading them and am always pointing people your way.
