If you have excess honor points or JPs, Essences are the best value you can get for them now that Maelstrom Crystals are so common. The transition happened once the troll instances came online.

For honor, yes, for JP - boots are more expensive on most servers

Note that the old Valor Point gear can be disenchanted for maelstrom crystals, so enchanters can produce crystals for 700 JP and non-enchanters can get BoE boots disenchanted for 1650 JP. Depending on your server prices this may tip the balance back in favor of maelstrom crystals as a JP sink.

Boots are a good option right now. After those saturate the market, you can try Cardinal Rubys from Dalaran. 220 JP buys a Ruby that you can cut and sell for around 220G, so 1JP = 1G. Twinks and leveling alts buy them all day long. While in Dalaran, you can do the JC daily and make a Nightmare Tear for another 200G or so.
