Thank you for writing this up. I've done the achievement on two toons (it's amazing what you could wind up doing in Dalaran back in Wrath when you were waiting for folks to log in) and some of the references were beyond me. I'm guessing it's much easier now if you have Cata installed since you can level your fishing well beyond 450.

The little in-jokes and internal references that Blizzard put into these coins really show the level of detail they go to with these sorts of things. Instead of just having a handful of coins with names attached to them, they went full-out and referenced a very large number of characters in the lore with funny/sad/silly quotes.

Also, I agree with Verine, above, about getting that last coin. It didn't seem to matter who you were, there was always that one last coin (random coin is random) and it was almost always different for everyone. I remember hearing people in guild chat complain that they needed X's gold coin as I fished up two of them in just a few minutes. Admittedly, they kept fishing up the last one I needed, so it all averages out in the end, I guess.
