Breakfast Topic: Why can't my night elf have red hair?

My night elf cannot have red hair.
Let me explain why this is such a frigging big deal to me and all night elves across Azeroth. As a protection warrior, I need to not only bring my A-game when fighting the nastiest creatures that Ragnaros and the Firelands can throw at me, I have to look good doing it. As a main tank, my raid team and guild look to me for guidance, safety, and momentum. How, Blizzard, can I effectively be that focal point of magnanimous support and a pillar of raid success when my beautiful new tier armor can never match my hair? How am I supposed to lead gracefully and with assertion when I have to see a pale blue or (god forbid) purple-hued color atop my unhelmeted head?
The night elves have been the victims of an outrageous number of atrocities in Cataclysm, from the burning of Ashenvale forest to subjugation by the whispers of old gods in Darkshore. Night elves have been slaughtered at the front lines of Hyjal, on the Molten Front, and on Ragnaros' doorstep. Are you telling me that we proud warriors, we few honorable kaldorei who remain on Azeroth, cannot go into battle with our Elune-given right to red hair?
Surely the amount of time night elves have spent with the humans and dwarves has allowed them to glean the secrets of hair dyes. The dwarves have been using Gnomish Grey-Away 9000 for years to cover up their graying beards, receding hairlines, and empty scalps. You tend to turn a little vain when everyone can see the top of your head. Why is this technology not available to the night elves to make our hair crimson?
Maybe this is punishment for the night elves' constant tinkering with forces well beyond their scope and power. Could the inability to don a scarlet do be part of the night elven original sin -- the Well of Eternity's beckoning the Legion's attention and drawing them onto Azerothian shores? Is this our punishment for being at the beginning and the end of practically every major screw-up in the history of WoW?
The time for change is now. No time is better than after the shattering has torn the world asunder. It is time for the night elves to pick up the pieces of their civilization, clench their passions into a fist of change, and demand from Elune the ability to have red hair. The time of the night elves has returned.
No, seriously, my hair can't match my warrior tier 12 armor sets. Can I please have red hair on my night elf?
What other little oddities are out there in WoW that you'd like to have changed? Is your race missing red hair? What do you think about this injustice?

Back when I made my Worgen hair color did in fact change fur color and vice versa. In fact Even after I made mine I went into the barbershop to specifically change my fur color and came out with red hair. I wasn't particularly happy with the orange locks so I changed it back. It would have been nice to have the human and worgen forms totally separate. But that train has sailed.

We need worgen with golden retriever-like hair!

Why can't 90% of my female toons have mohawks? This saddens me greatly.

This is another reason why trolls are awesome. :)

Why does the portal from the capitol city drop you at the Blasted Lands when there is a capital city portal once you pass through the Dark Portal ?

Why can't my draenei have braids that spin while she's casting like my dwarf does? I want spinny braids for everyone!

I find it strange that on my dwarf characters, depending on how I style my beard, little pieces will get snagged in my own armor as I run, get caught, and end up making a sort of triangle back to the spot while the rest of the beard is leaning forward.
I used to notice that for my trolls, there was a similar issue with the right toes, and that they would always be oddly be sticking up in almost a similar fashion--but as of recently, it has been fixed (along with the topknots, which previously got snagged in the air at odd points).

Go with a complimentary color. Instead of matching the red tier gear with red hair, pair it up with a shade of green.

I do not want to be Christmas night elf ;_;
Avan Jul 8th 2011 8:34AM
Do night elves have any orange hair colors? Then that'll compliment the purple skin, and it's a warm color like red.
MattKrotzer Jul 8th 2011 9:14AM
Meh. In Firelands, if you want to stand out, red is NOT the way to go.

Why can't the Forsaken look more like Sylvanas dammit? I don't mean the come-hither dress-up, I mean having flesh (rotting, smelling flesh though it may be) cover up the joints!
S.O. Jul 8th 2011 9:24AM
If you want fleshy joints, play in China.

Sylvanas isn't quite the same as the forsaken.
1) She was a high elf before dying. Forsaken were all humans, mostly all from Lordaeron.
2) Upon death, Arthas made her into a banshee, a non-corporeal being. Forsaken are reanimated corpses.
3) The body you see is that which she reclaimed; I imagine she probably made some supernatural repairs to it.
Sylvanas is the queen of the forsaken, but she's not the same species.

The original Forsaken may have been humans from Lordaeron, but the playable Forsaken "race" now is explicitly said by Blizzard to be former humans and elves.
Which brings me to a stylistic nitpick...there should be a body type selector on the character creation screen (it would be nice not to have to choose to be a body builder if I select male gender--especially when making an elfin rogue) and for Forsaken, that should also allow you to be a formerly human or formerly elfin Forsaken, with different looks.

WTB mohawks for female human toons. My rogue was inspired by Wendy O Williams.
Saikoujin Jul 8th 2011 8:36AM
Why is it that rogues do it from behind?
Tried to tie that question in with red hair, but couldn't... >.>
MusedMoose Jul 8th 2011 8:39AM
Because if they tried to backstab somebody from the front, it'd be more like a hug. Nobody's afraid of someone who sneaks up on you to hug you. ^_^
Naraxis Jul 8th 2011 9:28AM
except they'd be afraid right after your dagger slid through their 5th and 6th vertebrae...

Red is a color for fiery personalities. No night elf in lore really seems to fit the bill, aside from maybe Illidan. Night elves seem largely serene, contemplative and not at all prone to rash actions.
That's why they don't get red hair.
I'm more curious why all human males seem to have cleft palates and Popeye forearms.
