It might seem like crazy talk, but it's been around 10 months since we last featured Craft of War: BLIND. I mostly keep track of things by the number of requests we receive. Once I get enough emails to demand a re-feature, then I capitulate to the wishes of the masses. Also, believe it or not, new people get involved with machinima all the time ... and they may have never seen the video!
Know what else is crazy? BLIND hit the streets in late 2008. That's right; this video is three years old. Time flies when you're a blood elf rogue slicing it up in Stormwind, I guess. Despite its age, BLIND is still one of the most intense, action-packed machinima available. It looks like Percula's work is going to be around for a long time to come.
Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an email at moviewatch@wowinsider.com.
I hope I don't come off sounding like a dick (but I probably do), but I don't think that Blind is technically machinima. In that the animation wasn't done in the WoW engine (or any game engine for that matter).
From what I remember reading, Percula pulled the character and building models out of WoW, then imported them into a traditional computer animation software package. Did the animations then rendered the results.
Eh, maybe I am being a jerk. Maybe the term "machinima" has morphed enough that it encompasses all game related animation. I dunno. Certainly a large amount of post-processing is generally accepted in machinima works, but I still think the dividing line is using the game engine for your core animation.
Of course, I don't mean to take anything away from Percula's work. It's fantastic and I love it. And this column is "WoW Moviewatch", not "WoW Machinima", so I have no problem having it featured again and again here. I'm just being pedantic.
wow, has it really been three years since this first came out?! crazy how times flies... i still remember seeing it for the first time, then running to grab my brother and yelling, "YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS NEW VIDEO HOLY CRAP IT'S AMAZING YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW OMG WHY AREN'T YOU RUNNING GO NAO!!!!" (or something along those lines)
here's to hoping things work out for Percula to make more! :)
Although I'm not a fan of this video (probably my hatred of Blood Elves). Gotta give props to the creator this certainly seems to have made fanboys outa many, especially after all these years, nice work.
Yes, I can't blame you for featuring it again, especially after waiting 10 months. It is THAT good.
The reason it is so good, which you did not mention for the uninitiated, is because it's not exactly machinima. That is, it does not use animations from the game. The animation is from non-WoW software. The textures were imported from WoW and used on models recreated in the animation software (sorry I forget which program(s)).
I am sad that there are no plans for another one from Percula. :(
It is kinda sad that people who came into the WoW game with Cataclysm (or even in late Wrath) are not going to know who Katrana Prestor is. While the story isn't really the most important element of this machinima, it's something that really contributes to the flavor of the game.
And I agree with everyone's assertions that Percula is incredibly talented and is hopefully doing something awesome with his skills, even if it's not WoW-related.

This, bar none, my favorite WoW video - I just wish he'd done sequels to it.

Every time someone posts, and/or approves the posting of this video, a kitten dies.
YOU MONSTER.

IT BURNS BUT IT BURNS SO GOOD.

The only remedy for this atrocity is the immediate posting of some Greyfoo. Cleanse our palates.

Adam got down-voted??????
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....okay, that's actually kinda cool.
Heh.

This... This is the first time I've seen a staff get downvoted.

I thought the staff comments were automatically made blue...
I, I need to go lie down... Maybe the cake is not a lie...

The oddest part about him getting downvoted, is that he's right.

@MattKrotzer
You are so completely right. Downrate all you want!

Took me forever to figure out who the heck the dragon in human form was. Thanks Anne and Matthew for the great articles in Know Your Lore.
