Breakfast Topic: What will you do after WoW?
This Breakfast Topic has been brought to you by Seed, the AOL guest writer program that brings your words to WoW Insider's pages.
I'm going to ask a question, and you're not going to like it. In fact, you may want to take a big chug from a pint of Ironforge's finest first. Go ahead, have a seat; I'll wait. In fact, I'll have one of my own.
Ready? Just remember, it's hypothetical, all right? Okay, here goes: What would you do if WoW shut down tomorrow? Say there were a huge natural disaster (but all the Blizzard employees made it out okay; I'm not cruel) and there was major data corruption and destruction, or perhaps the game just ran its course and is over. Either way, there is no more Azeroth, no servers or realms, no character list, not even a login screen or an annoying dragon roar every minute. What would you do?
Do you have another game to fill your time? If it were sudden and unforeseen, would you be angry about all your lost time and give up games altogether? Would you fill up the void with other technological means, with another hobby, or with family time?
I would probably spend more time writing, and maybe get some of these brainstorms colliding in my head down on paper. There are other games I've been putting off so I could concentrate on WoW that I could give a whirl. How would you fill your time?

I was just going to say, go play AC: Brotherhood because I haven't picked it up knowing that it'll be there when I get bored of wow. I was busy getting ready for CATA when it came out so I just let fall by the wayside as it is a predominately single player game. Plus I can save probably $30 or more by waiting.

November... the month of gaming.
Uncharted3, AC:R, MW3, BF3, FIFA12, Saint's Row3, MGS:Rising, Elder Scrolls V, Need for Speed, Aliens: Colonial Marines...
If I'm gonna buy all of these games, I'm gonna spend more than a thousand.
15 days to finish Uncharted 3 before AC:R comes out.
Challenge accepted

I would be pretty sad... but I do have other games I like to play, and am a member of a cross-game community, so I would probably join them in another game's universe. Additionally, my hubby and I have a baby due in October, so I wouldn't have that much more time to fill. :P

Guild Wars 2 maybe? Arche Age looks pretty solid. Maybe Rift since I heard it's such a WoW clone. Although after playing Wow for 5 years, I'd rather try something new.

uhh...first time that I've replied without wanting to. Thanks joystiq! But you're off by a few weeks.

Sleep until the release of Diablo 3

Word Up! It took that first official video of D3 back in '08 to get me on to Blizz's site and from there into giving the WoW demo a try. Still super actively playing, but looking forward to leaving Azeroth for Sanctuary.

Complain on the forums!

Seriously though, I would be sad, but people are very good at adapting. I'd either pick up another mmo or just stop gaming all together until D3 comes out... which would be delayed again since this so called "natural disaster."

Join the lynch mob heading to Blizzard headquarters...

I would probably direct my gnomish mad scientist ideas into creating crazy contraptions.
DeathPaladin Jul 9th 2011 8:16AM
I'd spend my time pitching a new MMO idea. Get Blizzard and Lauren Faust together to make an Equestria MMO.
Instead of killing things, most quests involve doing nice things for your friends.
With all the WoW-playing bronies out there, I'd pretty much be guaranteed to become a billionaire.

You need to do more brainstorming first. It has to be 20% cooler.

I just started a new job so my play time has already been cut to early mornings and weekends. It is summer so we go swiming with our kids on Saturday and Sundays so my WoW time takes a hit there too. If WoW ended I would probably wait for Star Wars: The Old Republic to be released.

This. Or pray that someone makes a non-suck Wheel of Time game.
