WRUP: March 24, 1984
Dear Mr. O'Halloran,
I accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in Blogsmith for whatever it was that I did wrong ... And what I did -- volunteer to write WRUP -- was wrong. But I think you're crazy to make me write this post telling you who I think I am, or detail how far everyone has progressed into the Firelands.
What do you care?
You see us as you want to see us ... in the simplest terms and the most convenient definitions. You see us as a boomkin, a paladin, a shadow priest, a healer, and a McCurley. Correct? That's the way we saw each other at seven o'clock this morning.
We were brainwashed.
Alex Ziebart (@AlexZiebart) I'll be wishing the Firelands dailies kept me occupied for more than 15 minutes every day. Luckily, the raid has been a lot of fun! We have Rhyolith, Beth'tilac, and Shannox down so far. Baleroc is next on our list.
Anne Stickney (@shadesogrey) Doing my dailies -- it's weird having dailies to do for a purpose again! In between that, writing. As for Firelands, we've gotten Beth'tilac, Rhyolith, Shannox, and Baleroc. Alysrazor should be down on Sunday, probably Staghelm too, if we're lucky. I am loving the Firelands so far.
Daniel Whitcomb (@danielwhitcomb) I will probably be taking care of some of the residual unpacking from my move. Other than that, I have two 85s to run Firelands dailies on and an 84 that may just be 85 by the end of the weekend if I have time.
Elizabeth Wachowski (@leeatwaterlives) If I WoW, it'll be to keep trying to rework my professions. If not, Lego Harry Potter, L.A. Noire, and about 5 billion games on my iPhone that I keep buying for 99 cents and then playing simultaneously. (Damn you, Gameloft sales!) I have done nothing with Firelands and am proud.
Fox Van Allen (@foxvanallen) Not sure what I'm going to do with this weekend. One thing's for sure, though -- I need a Tyler-free weekend to recover. He's like a toxic cloud -- not one that kills you immediately, but one that causes you to get cancer. It's a much slower, much more painful fate. My raid team has cleared through Shannox and Beth'tilac, but we spent several painful hours wiping on Lord Rhyolith. I hate that fight. I feel bored during it, I feel helpless, and I feel like I have absolutely no impact on the encounter whatsoever no matter what I do. Also, I can't see anything during it. I have no idea when 4.3 is coming, but I can almost guarantee you that I'll be way beyond bored with 4.2 by the time it lands.
Joe Perez (@Lodurzj) Lots of WoW, LoL and some Sanctum tower defense! Gearing up for the rebirth of the For the Lore Podcast. That's right, I'm a lore nerd and I'm proud of it! Other than that, going to try to finish up The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile if I can. The game is very, very addicting. We've gotten down Beth'tilac, Rhyolith, Shannox, and Baleroc, hoping for a dead firebird on Monday. While some of the kills have been ... rougher than I would like, I don't think it's going to keep me as entertained as I thought it would be until patch 4.3 is released, sadly.
Josh Myers (@Elamqt) Most of my weekend will be spent pugsitting my brother's 5-week-old pug while he and his girlfriend are on vacation. While doing that, I'll be alternating between regearing my elemental set and playing Rift with my boyfriend. As for Firelands, we are currently 1/7 heroic, with heroic Shannox down and a 28% wipe on heroic Lord Rhyolith last night. I honestly don't think this raid offers enough progression to keep us satisfied through 4.3, even though I know heroic Ragnaros is going to be a huge roadblock.
Matt Low (@Matticus) League of Legends! I wish WoW had a battleground in that style.
Michael Gray (@writegray) I'm playing an exciting game of "put a fence in the yard." My wife and I just started fostering rescue dogs. Our first is a wonderful black lab mix named Reagan; she came from a sedentary home and is surprisingly chill. But she has anxiety issues due to life shakeups, and we're fostering her to get her in good mindset and get her 150% ready for a family. A fence is a necessity to play ball with her and Sylvanas, so I'll be dropping an augur into the ground 87 times to build a picket fence.
Robin Torres (@cosmiclaurel) I'll be getting @BloodKnightBo to 85 so I can do the Firelands quests. She would have been there already, but the Steam sale keeps forcing me to buy games like Sims 3 and Faerie Solitaire. So when I'm not helping cat/centaur creatures in Uldum, I'll be having my scientist chickie wreak havoc among the romantic lives of my neighbors.
Dear Mr. O'Halloran,
I accept the fact that I had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in Blogsmith for whatever it was I did wrong. But I think you're crazy to make me write a post telling you who I think I am.
You see us as you want to see us... In the simplest terms and the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a boomkin ...
... and a paladin ...
... and a shadow priest ...
... and a healer ...
... and a McCurley.
Does that answer your question?
Sincerely yours,
The WoW Insider club

Best WRUP opening ever. Nothing quite like a Hughes 80s teen movie.
Noyou Jul 9th 2011 8:34PM
I like yellowcard from what I heard of them. But they trashed a classic song. I mean gutted it. Sometimes you can get away with that and it sounds good. Yeah. As for any John Hughes movie/reference - huge win.

@Noyou
I totally agree. yellowcard took one of my favorite songs of all time and just butchered it beyond repair. can't believe anyone would use it over the original in anything. ever.

Ugh. That was an absolutely horrible version of that song. Just completely awful. I'm sorry, but it was really, really bad. The singer need to have his guitar and his microphone taken away from him.

Brilliant movie references aside, I'm loving the Firelands stuff so far. My fire mage is dead-set on earning "the Flamebreaker" as a title, because that will officially mean she was too damn hot for the elemental plane of fire. And that's awesome.
Also: I think everyone should try to get this achievement:

Not only do you attack spiders so they'll pull you up a volcanic mountain (watch your AOEs!), but the view from the top is incredible, and you can really see all the work Blizzard put into this new zone.

Aw man! My DK is my main so I've been doing the achievements on her, but now I think my fire mage needs to be doing them too... and that's way too many dailies in a day.
Fuzzl Jul 9th 2011 4:35PM
Yellowcard, Breakfast Club, and Fox...this article is full of many wins.
danielryanthorpe Jul 9th 2011 4:53PM
Well....that is my birthday. Like my actual day of birth....ever.
devonaelick Jul 9th 2011 6:23PM
March 24th is my birthday too, but on that particular date I was still negative four years old. Happy birthday, friend!
Msimbah Jul 9th 2011 8:48PM
My birthday too, but I was in high school! :)
Molly Jul 9th 2011 11:55PM

After a wedding in hundred degree weather, I will be chilling myself back down with some Fatal Frame on my old PS2.
bone_slave Jul 10th 2011 9:09AM
fatal frame......best scary game ever.......period.
VioletArrows Jul 9th 2011 6:10PM
Wishing we could do more than 25 dailies. Doing the free week, except when I left my gear was just meh from only doing quests, and now it's beyond terrible so I'm stuck with 318-333 gear and no way to level up these boring reputations except the painfully slow way. Starting to remember why I left in the first place. :/
Noyou Jul 9th 2011 8:38PM
Sounds like you need to roll an alt- 50 dailies between 2 toons. Ooo-aaah!
VioletArrows Jul 9th 2011 8:41PM
I have 8. Though I suppose my paladins don't count since I've given up on them :p
Noyou Jul 9th 2011 8:48PM
I think I saw a post by you on Mr. Mage pants' Arcane brilliance. Go get that frost mage to 85. You can thank me later ;)
VioletArrows Jul 9th 2011 9:01PM
Nope, wasn't me. Can't play anything that's not plate or chain, either.
Noyou Jul 9th 2011 11:11PM
Check out his guide to beginning mages. Maybe you change your mind?
KrisseyB Jul 9th 2011 6:54PM
I was 4 years old, so it probably was a combination of playing with barbies, listening to sesame street records, and annoying the crap out of my big sisters, on that particular day.
