Blizzard to talk licensing at San Diego Comic-Con

Blizzard tends to keep to its own convention for most of the year, rather than taking part in other major conventions like E3, but it's breaking form with product reveals and licensing discussion next week at San Diego Comic-Con. Blizzard's Chris Metzen, The Shattering author Christie Golden, Cryptozoic Entertainment President Cory Jones, and others will be present for a panel on Thursday, July 21 -- that is, if you're already lucky enough to be going to Comic-Con (say hi to Christie for me)!
Here's the full panel description, which is also available on the Comic-Con website.
1:00-2:00 World of Warcraft, Diablo, and StarCraft Swag Show -- Blizzard Entertainment creative and licensed partners unveil and discuss World of Warcraft, Diablo, and StarCraft-inspired products. In attendance: Chris Metzen (Blizzard Entertainment SVP of creative development), Nick Carpenter (Blizzard Entertainment executive art director), Christie Golden (New York Times bestselling author), Hank Kanalz (SVP Digital, DC Comics and World of Warcraft comics editor), Sean Gailey(creative overlord, J!nx Clothing), and Cory Jones (Cryptozoic Entertainment president and chief creative officer). Moderated by Kat Hunter ( host of BlizzCon coverage on DIRECTV). Room 6BCF

Hello there! Medievaldragon is actually collecting questions for that panel to put to Blizzard, so if anyone has something they'd like to ask and you ask nicely, check out this thread if you're interested!

Well technically THIS is the proper thread. Sorry about that, my bad!

So it's the same panel they've hosted at SDCC for the last 2? 3? years?

Yes, yes it is. And of course, none of the questions asked by audience members at the panel will actually ask questions about the products being presented - instead asking lore and in-game questions as if the Cryptozoic guy knows when Thrall will return to being the Warchief of the Horde.
I'll probably be there again - I did snag a picture with Metzen after the panel last year, after all.

What will the next expansion be? Come on, everyone is thinking it. I'm just sayin it. Maybe they will reveal it there. Here's hoping. :)

Can we get the real story on megablocks vs lego!

You mean aside from the incredible over-pricing on small brick count kits and the ridiculous over-pricing on larger kits? I remember when 200 brick kits were less than $10.

What is there to know? LEGO already has its own MMO game, while not a threat to WoW, it is a competing game.
All LEGO characters and weapons look the same. The only difference between LEGO Jack Sparrow and LEGO Elizabeth Swann is Jack's goatee. Anakin's lightsabre looks just like Yoda's lightsabre, and the only difference between a LEGO sword and LEGO Excalibur is one of them is chrome.
I love my LEGO bricks as much as the next geek, but all LEGO licensed products are LEGOs first, and the license second. LEGO Star Wars toys are not Star Wars toys, they are LEGOs that look enough like Star Wars characters as to spark the imagination into believing that Slave Outfit Leia doesn't look just like C-3P0.
I want my mini Thunderfury to actually look like the Blessed Blade of the Windseeker, and not a shiny LEGO sword.

Definitely going to this panel. :)

I'd like to hear more about Twilight of the Aspects (such as the reasoning behind that dreadful title). Since Golden is there, I expect we will hear something.

This panel is always great, been to the last 3 and last year I got my Blazing Hippogryph so hope to get something nice this year as well as hear some nice new exciting news.

fuck comiccon, go to dragoncon. its run by the fans, instead of forcefed to you by the companies.

I don't think people go to comic-con for the fans. They go there for the announcements, trailers, random geek-celebrities and, of course, the booth babes. Does Dragon Con have booth babes, huh? HUH?!
