Two Bosses Enter: Announcing Season 2's boss lineup

Today we are ready to reveal our tournament bracks for Two Bosses Enter's second Cataclysm season! I've sifted through last week's reader requests and built this tournament brackets based on a few factors. Your feedback was absolutely taken into consideration, and most of this season's competitors were chosen by you. However, some competitors were picked by myself and other WoW Insider staffers.
Highly elaborate encounters like Jin'do the Godbreaker or bosses with one-shot abilities such as Bloodlord Mandokir, while popular choices, were not included in this season because their mechanics would make the tournament extremely one-sided unless I added special circumstances and stipulations from week to week. In order to include them, Two Bosses Enter would be less let the fans figure out what would happen and more what arbitrary rules does Alex want us to play by this week? If that's something people want, I can make it happen next time around, but I'm fairly sure the majority of readers would like things to stay as they've been all along.
There will be no voting this week, but I will be revealing this week's brackets and I will explain what we will be doing differently this season, along with some commentary of what did and did not work last season.
- Week 1 High Priestess Azil vs. Cookie
- Week 2 Foe Reaper 5000 vs. Commander Springvale
- Week 3 Venoxis vs. Lord Godfrey
- Week 4 Setesh vs. Halazzi
- Week 5 Hex Lord Malacrass vs. Vanessa VanCleef
- Week 6 Temple Guardian Anhuur vs. Daakara
- Week 7 Jan'alai vs. Corborus
- Week 8 Beauty vs. Zanzil
What, no fan fiction this week?
Nope! I enjoyed writing the little introductory stories the last few weeks (especially the surprise first edition of it), but doing it week-to-week is a significant time investment, far above and beyond the time this column usually takes! I won't do it every week, but I would like to continue doing it occasionally. I think it worked well as my Eric Bischoff moment (high-five, wrestling fans) and added excitement to a gimmick gone wrong, but people will tire of that if I do it every season. Quite a few people didn't react to it well the first time!
If there is a specific character in this tournament that you'd like me to try my hand at writing in the comedic absurdity that is Two Bosses Enter, request it in the comments and I'll think it over. You'll almost certainly see something out of Vanessa, at the very least. I think I inadvertently made Vanessa and Tirion the TBE mascots.
No wild cards this season, huzzah!
Don't get too excited. If Two Bosses Enter reaches a third season this expansion, wild cards will be coming back. I just wasn't interested in doing them this season because of the influx of Zul'Aman and Zul'Gurub bosses in addition to the reader requests. When I bring wild cards back, it's very possible I'll use those for my Eric Bischoffing. Or my Stephanie McMahoning, if you prefer. When they come back, they will not be comedy options, however. The Cardboard Assassin is dead.

Thank god the Cardboard Assassin is dead, and also Bosses that would make the tournament one sided, Ozruk in my opinion should never have been put into the tournament, it was too obvious he would win.
Wild cards can be very interesting however, for instance Whitemane and Mograine was a very good wild card in my opinion

And Vanessa isn't going to make the tournament one-sided? I know she is a fan favorite but last season she cheated her way back in. Lorewise or just common-sense wise, she does not deserve to be in this season. She lost, even if it was to a joke. Simple as that. She was number two for a reason. Only reason she didn't win was because people didn't think she deserved it or they liked Ozruk more. Now that Ozruk is gone, what is stopping her?

Cookie is going to ride the win train :D
Dugmet Jul 11th 2011 9:38AM
Wasn't one season of this enough?
MattKrotzer Jul 11th 2011 9:45AM
No. A lot of us enjoy this feature.
Vitos Jul 11th 2011 10:32AM
Also, technically, this is Season 3 (There was ye-old Wrath TBE)
MightyMuffin Jul 11th 2011 5:57PM
Didn't we have more than one TBE during Wrath that included the new dungeons, which then culminated into the TBE champions fighting (which led to Eragos winning)? Was that just one season, or was that multiple tournaments made into one "season"? Why do sports-esque terms have to be so misleading...

I'm guessing all bosses are presumed to have their heroic-level abilities? In that case I pity any boss who can't win in 30 seconds or less, cause then Setesh is gonna be bringing the pain train into the station.

I've got my money e-bucks on Lord Godfrey. Yeah, it's a losing bet but that's why they're e-bucks.
Matheus314 Jul 11th 2011 10:02AM
Venoxis vs. Lord Godfrey will be a fight to remember through the ages!
GhostWhoWalks Jul 11th 2011 10:58AM
Seconding that, though my money is on Venoxis if purely because of how big of a ham (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/LargeHam) he is.

It's a pity you're not including comedy bosses any more, but I understand. Even though, in my heart I know that the BWD elevator would have swept the tournament.
Matheus314 Jul 11th 2011 10:05AM
BWD Elevator Boss is a raid boss, therefore, he can't play.
I wish there were a "TBE: Raid Version" somwhere in time...
MattKrotzer Jul 11th 2011 10:05AM
Alex, I decided to make you a Season Two present...

Setesh vs. Halazzi is gonna ge interesting i think, but the final 2 should be Daakara vs. Jan'alai. I cannot honsetly say who would win that.
Interficio Jul 11th 2011 10:37AM
Awww come on, Setesh?? what about Rajh!!!! The King of those Gods, not the wannabe add spawner Setesh
Angus Jul 11th 2011 11:47AM
"Let the tournament begin!!"
Sir Tirion?
Yes squire?
No offense sir, but why are we doing this?
Well son, we made this Tournament ground to choose champions to fight the Lich King.
I know sir, but, well, he's dead sir.
I know that son. But, you see, this thing cost money to build and for upkeep. And since Arthas' fall, no one has been by. Those Goblins gotta get paid. And this was their idea to help pay the bills.
Wonder why they came up with this sir.
One never knows with Goblins, son. One never knows.
MEANWHILE In Zul Garub:
"That was too easy. No one defending a chest. Profit with no risk! Who else is fighting this week?"
"Looks like a trip to the Deadmines!"
"Oh good, I need a new Rolling Pin"
Fletcher Jul 11th 2011 11:48AM
A good lineup. Let the games begin!
Straz Jul 11th 2011 12:09PM
You should do raids and have all the bosses in each raid or raid tier fight, i.e. all tier 1 bosses fight in a tourney to see who gets to fight the winner of tier 2 tourney.
Natsumi Jul 11th 2011 1:19PM
I'd like to pit T2 Ragnaros against T12 Ragnaros
