You're wrong about the hurl spear ability. He pretty much targets Riplimb, or near him. This means it's a good idea for Riplimb to be tanked away from Shannox, so that he's forced to run as long as is needed for the stacks of Jagged Tear to drop off.
I realize that this is a healer guide though, so I guess it's not of such a big importance.
