The Classifieds: Old school, vanilla school

Screams of the Past is one such guild. Check out what Zwinkz had to say about their efforts:
We're the only classic guild that has remained 'pure' when it comes to raiding. Meaning anything that was introduced after Classic is not allowed when it comes to raiding that includes Glyphs, WotlK enchants, and gems. We're still bringing a great roster clearing all classic content available today including AQ40, 2 BWL Raids, 2 MC Raids a week, as well as AQ10. I feel we are the players that stand for a true classic guild.
While vanilla raiding may not be your thing, you certainly have to respect their dedication to the playstyle.
Random Acts of Uberness
It's when another player lights up your night with precise play, a wicked sense of humor or unexpected generosity that your login becomes something to remember. Share your Random Acts of Uberness with theclassifieds@wowinsider.com. Keep things brief (150 words or less, please), and be sure to list everyone's character names and home realms or battlegroup. Don't be afraid of sending an entry more than once if it doesn't appear; sometimes internet dragons eat email, and we'd hate to let that keep deserving players from getting their due.
Greenswooshy I'd like to give a shout out to Greenswooshy who was in a recent heroic BRC with my newly 85/heroic ready tank. It was the first heroic I tanked all the way through and I was still a little nervous. Having been through the heroic rotation many times before, but only as a ranged dps or healer, this was a whole new perspective! They offered helpful advice and were encouraging throughout the instance. We made it through with only one wipe (that was an accidental double pull!). It made for a great first heroic as a tank and definitely got my confidence up! -- A female prot paladin dwarf

10-man casual raiding This sounds like a good group if you want a relaxed atmosphere. Argent Exodus, on US-Steamwheedle Cartel, is looking to grow. We're a 10 man casual raiding guild that's been on the server since 2006. We are currently looking to add new people who have a similar casual, fun-loving mindset. We don't care about gearscore or equipment, we're willing to help get you up to speed for raiding if that's what you want to do. Our raids are Monday and Wednesday, 8:15pm-10:15pm, though we often add a Sunday raid at the same time, if people can make it. If you're looking for a guild that's tight knit, fun, and willing to go the extra mile, talk to Caeridar on Steamwheedle Cartel and visit our website @ http://www.argent-exodus.com
Browncoats wanted Okay, not really, but I can't see a Whedon reference and not say that. Order of Blackstaff on Icecrown is looking for new members. We are a family friendly, casual raiding guild with many families that play together. We are a guild that is full of geekery (Firefly one liners and discussions of Science fiction and fantasy are very common) and crazy stunts. We do holiday parties on a fairly regular basis (including costume contests during Hallow's Eve and Brewfest), like to run old raids at times, some pvp and 10 man raiding. We currently need all types of players to fill out our ten man team and work towards a 25 man team eventually. We do have a few extra tanks so if you are a tank, please have an offspec. Come visit us at http://oob.wowstead.com for more information!
Looking for a home? These guys are Horde and proud. The ReaperZ are a proud Horde casual raiding (and a ton of other stuff) guild located on the Terokkar server. We are looking for a few good men and women to fill out our ranks. We believe that raiding is all about learning how to work together as a team - to figure out what went wrong, make some adjustments to our strategy and then keep trying until we get it right. We do not believe in playing the blame game - we win or lose as a team and that is all there is to it. We would love to be able to form two 10 man teams and work on a 25 man for all the new Cataclysm content. If you have an excellent attitude, are at least 16 years old and believe that having fun is the point of playing WOW then we would like to talk to you. You can find out all about us (including all the crazy stuff we love to do) and apply online at thereaperz.guildzilla.com or by whispering Mixx in game.

Browncoats! We may be a dying breed as Firefly flies away into mainstream obscurity, but damn it, we're still flying.

They can't take the sky from us.

This article made me miss WoW =(

No kidding. Human models that hi-Rez and polished would be enough for me to kick my Elf habit.

Ive kind of always wanted to try some Classic raiding since I wasn't around for it when it was relevant (started playing during Naxx40 and played off and on through BC, never getting to level cap until Wrath) but I can't imagine doing it for more than a couple months. The same raids over and over with no hope of new content . . . It's like ICC all over again.
On a side note, I want to raid more on my NElf Druid but dont have the time to reliably dual-guild with my main Horde-side and the alliance side of my server is completely dead (10-15 people in stormwind during -peak- hours). Can anyone recommend a good alliance server with a strong pug scene?
Molly Jul 13th 2011 4:47PM
I play on the Alliance side of Malygos, and it has a strong economy and lots of PUGs for both T11 and Firelands trash runs. Fair warning, though: Our Trade channel is... "robust." I have a high tolerance for asshattery, but even I end up on a mass /ignore streak from time to time. Just FYI :)
Revynn Jul 13th 2011 4:57PM
I play Horde-side on Area 52, ours is quite colorful as well.
Thanks, I'll check it out tonight.

Medivh is a stable, friendly, and robust Alliance-heavy server with a vibrant raiding community. Medivh has been around since Vanilla WoW, and many of the same players who helped open the gates of Ahn'Qiraj (A world first!) are still playing today. While PvP can be a little dull, Medivh still has a strong showing in many other areas of WoW. PuGs run every day of the week, at all hours, and there are dozens of guilds actively recruiting all types of players, from the most casual, to the most bleeding-edge hardcore, from the solo-questers, to the mass-holiday groups. If you need any help, or have any questions, feel free to contact me in-game (Therosh).

Silver Hand has the best pug scene in the game. Check out www.leftoversraiding.org.

It would have been nice for the service to actual notify us that the free option was being turfed :) All is good, bill has been paid :)

While I will give credit to that classic raiding guild for actually putting their money where their mouths are, I still consider it silly and arbitrary to ban so many features of the game just because they weren't features at a certain point in time.
I hope for their sake that they don't have too much caster mail drop, considering that as an Alliance guild they by their own rules forbid Shaman from participating in their raids.
DonNochay Jul 13th 2011 4:41PM
You seem to be extremely put off by their SELF IMPOSED rules, that they impose on THEMSELVES. Give it a rest, you are just retreading what many, many people already say/have said about the classic raiding scene.
DeathPaladin Jul 13th 2011 5:01PM
There's no need for all that self-righteous indignation. I have no issue with the classic raiding scene in and of itself. It's just that banning Death Knights, Draenei, Alliance Shaman, glyphs, gems, etc from your raid group just because they weren't in the original release of the game strikes me as the same "this game is SERIOUS BUSINESS" attitude that plagues the people I knew in college who refused to play Super Smash Brothers unless it was stock 5 Final Destination no items tier 1 characters only.
I have no intention or interest in stopping them from playing that way. I just also have no intention or interest to play like that, either. Them playing that way in no way impacts my enjoyment of the game, and there's no reason why my thinking that their way is not any fun should have any impact on their enjoyment of the game.
cyanea85 Jul 13th 2011 5:12PM
You apparently do have an interest in doing...something against them seeing as you made a point to specifically criticize their play style without looking at them further.
From the very top of their guild page:
As we are a Pre-BC raiding guild, we to not allow Death Knights or Shamans in our guild, nor do we allow Worgen or Draenei. Below is the current status of the class needs for our guild:
cyanea85 Jul 13th 2011 5:13PM
TL;DR - What's wrong with being all SERIOUS BUSINESS about their game if that's what they choose to do?
DeathPaladin Jul 13th 2011 5:46PM
Absolutely nothing, and the fact that you somehow seem to be interpreting my opinion that their play style does not sound fun to somehow mean that I think their play style should be banned forever is puzzling, to be honest.
I dislike the taste of pineapple, and I think it is a gross pizza topping. That does not mean that I think pizza parlors should be forbidden from using pineapple as a pizza topping. But it also doesn't mean that if someone else mentions how much they love pineapple pizza, that I'm somehow not allowed to give my opinion on the matter. It just means that I'm going to be getting my dinner elsewhere if I'm with a group that is ordering only pineapple pizzas.
