The idea of "WoW stuck at Burning Crusade" excites me as much as the idea of "WoW with lightsabers" excites some. If RIFT lacks vehicle quests, I might try the game out.

BC was the most fun I have ever had playing WoW, a good raiding progression system, multiple raids per tier, and hell. I even miss atunements. I really wish Blizzard would go back to the way they used to produce, and protect content.

I felt the Elemental Invasion event before Cataclysm was WoW more or less "testing the water's" for rift's world boss mechanics, I'm not sure WoW can implement world bosses at this time without compromising a lot of the raiding and dungeon progression design, and really can only go far as removing the whole "Tagging" issue with quest mobs that many players are pursuing, at least for now.
Really, though, as far as Rift is concerned, I found that--asides from the rift mechanic itself--the content was lacking or unpolished, and WoW's success is largely based on how it can provide quality content at every level; in Rift what do I do when I get bored of World Bosses?

Interesting to hear about how WoW-like Rift really is. Personally, I refuse to play it, as I won't support any product with advertising that only bashes the competition. Telling me "We're not in Azeroth anymore" tells me nothing except that I don't want to go there because I *like* Azeroth. ^_^ But it's good to hear about the game so I know I'm not making a mistake.
Now, if SW:TOR really is WoW with lightsabers and more in-depth questing, then damn, I'm going to have to give that a try.

I'm not playing it because it's yet another fantasy MMO. I....already have a fantasy MMO I play. I don't really want to play another one.
Now when Star Wars comes out, all bets are off. XD

I like the part where you get a 60% speed mount at level 20. That, coupled with trying the beta and realising that since they'd cribbed all the controls from WoW, my learning curve had just flatlined, was amusing.

I think it shows alot of class to talk positively about someone (Totalbuiscut) Who has acted unprofessionally towards you guys in recent shows. Although I don't agree with everything you guys say, and the stances you take. It is cool to be professional even when other people make the choice not to be.
I say this as a massive TB fan. And a long time reader of WoW Insider.
Turpster still owns you all however.
Jenessa Jul 14th 2011 12:59AM
TB was being a jerk to these guys? Which episode?
I used to be such a big fan of TB but good god, when he brought all that BS about how he can't handle the trolls so he has a TEAM working on his youtube and about how he cries about changes that don't affect him I was completely lost. I like these guys because they are just nice guys :D

It makes me super sad that TB doesn't like some of us over here because I bet I would have awesome conversations about MMOs with him and we'd get along awesomely.

I tried out Blueplz for a few weeks not so long ago.
I got to hear a man repeating himself. Repeating Himself. Oh yes folks. Himself. Repeating. A lot. AAAAAAAAAAAA lot. Um Hm. Indeed. That's right. Repeating Himself. Right.
Apparently the fact that the guy doesn't use show notes is a good thing. I may have to disagree.
When TB did have something to say it was sometimes quite interesting. More often than not though it was the same old schtick about 'Wrath Babies' and a lot of criticism about badges and things and how stupid Blizzard were that sort of sounded like it made sense until you spent a minute actually thinking about it and realised there were some equally logical counter-arguments.... by which point TB had made two or three more statements that were also imbalanced and you'd stopped paying attention.
Apparently the fact that the guy doesn't have a co-host and therefore lacks dialogue with anyone but himself is a good thing. I may have to disagree.
I'm sure there are plenty of people who enjoy his work, but it's not for me.

TB made the nasty turn from WOW critic to WOW hater.
I dropped my iTunes sub to his podcast.
Blayze Jul 14th 2011 7:45PM
I always found TB off-putting somehow, back when I used to listen to WoW Radio--it was literally only Slanik and Turpster that kept me bothering to listen in.
GO VENDOR TRASH
Anyway, I love the idea of WoW 'stealing' ideas that work--especially AoE looting and public quests/untappable mobs. I just wish Blizzard applied such methods globally and no longer go the route of putting solo content behind group quests in phased areas (OGRI'LA WOO).
Regardless, I cheer internally every time I get credit for someone else's molten giant and frown externally whenever I realise I didn't just get credit for their fire elemental and/or lavadog.

In one of the last Blue PLZ episodes he has done He spent about 40 minutes talking about how much he hates Mathew Rossi. No joke.
Jenessa Jul 14th 2011 1:28AM
I just found it, holy shit TB makes me sick. He is so crazily unprofessional and makes the whole wow community look like assholes. He is nowhere near being the voice of our community. TB is an asshole.
Ily Rossi
Jex Jul 14th 2011 8:15AM
But how many of those 40 minutes were just TB saying:
I don't like Mathew Rossi. That's right. Don't like him. Um hm folks. Mathew Rossi. Do Not Like.... etc.
Bad form to make the same joke twice in the same comments thread, but chrissakes that man needs a script.
Gunthen73 Jul 14th 2011 1:37AM
I think he is still holding on to a lot of bad blood from when the WoW Insider show left WCradio. John Bain is one of the nicest people you will ever meet, Totalbiscuit is an asshole.
Tom Jul 14th 2011 1:51AM
Are there any animation differences between Titan's Grip and Single-Minded Fury?
Haden Jul 14th 2011 11:59AM
Rifts in rift always reminded me of like the scourge invasion at the start of wrath or the shattering event. There super fun and they break up the daily duty's in wow.
