If they're gonna do this, why not just make it cross-faction as well? If I have to pay for it, I wanna be able to play with all of my friends.

That doesn't really make sense to me... you can't group with your Real ID friends that are on the same server as you, but cross faction, so there's no reason why you would be able to do it cross server.

^^^THIS!.Yeah yeah.. there are technical issues with some boss RP and mob spawns, dungeon quests, and stuff in instances, but make it the same faction as the party leader. If you're going to charge for a service who's main purpose is to to play with friends make it available to ALL the friends -- not just based off of some trivial red vs. blue split whose boundries have been slowly eroding for years.

@Saeadame - You could do an Old Hillsbrad Foothills implementation - costuming the players - for the duration of the instance; that should solve the issue.I'd actually really like to group with some of my opposite faction counterparts on my server, too. Rivalries often breed friendship, and the faction vs. faction nature of the game shouldn't get in the way of having fun with good people in new and interesting ways.

Because my Priest would rather Cannibalize a gnome instead of heal one.

I totally agree, if I'm going to pay for the service I want to play with all my friends. And we know they can pull off faction masks a la Caverns of Time, so i think this would be the selling point at least for me.

There is no technical issues for this. You can do rated BGs on same faction versus modes (alliance vs alliance) which is done by simple buff called http://www.wowhead.com/spell=81748 or "horde" if horde side. You could just zone in and get that buff in there. Since they are doing stuff with party system I dont think it would take huge effort to implement from something huge like blizzard.Only limitation is that they would have to link low level dungeon quests with factions, which can be done very easily (and I believe they already have) or just say "group with friends, but no quests for now"

THIS!!! This would, for me, justify charging money for the service, because it's meta vs. game. It's as if your DM (in a PnP RPG) said, "OK, you can sit in on this game, but for RP purposes, all our characters are chaotic evil Drow, so pretend that your character (normally a chaotic good Moon Elf, created for another campaign) is chaotic evil Drow, and we're good to go." This would go along with other, existing charge services, such as faction change, in much the same way, except temporary ("during this 5-man group").As it is, charging for same-faction cross-realm? Well, sure, I'd like to use it now and again, but the friends who play with most often have faction-changed their mains, and I didn't (both for RP attachment (first toon ever) and $$$ reasons, hehe). So, I'd be able to use it, maybe, once a month or so with my main. That would be awesome for those few times, but to pay for so seldom-used a feature? I'm not sure I'm willing to do that. If they'd add in cross-faction and make give my Tauren Shaman a "You are, and always have been, a dwarf" buff for the duration (to cover RP, etc), I'd be all over this, even for another $5 / month.
