Free, Paid, who gives a rat's ass. What are talking about? The cost of a coffee over a month's time?Blizzard has not raised sub rates in 7 years. Do you have idea how much other forms of entertainment have gone up in 7 years. Please God, save me from the Righteous Slippery Slope Nutjobs.

"Blizzard has not raised sub rates in 7 years. Do you have idea how much other forms of entertainment have gone up in 7 years."No MMO has raised its subscription fee in the past 7 years that I know of, or ever for that matter. In fact, many have even provided cheaper ways to play. Video games in general still cost about the same amount as they did 7 years ago. It's not really relevant if some other industry has raised or lowered it's prices. Besides, what you're presenting is a false dichotomy. The reality isn't that we're inevitably faced with either "premium" stuff or an increase in subscription fees. It's not like Blizzard is struggling to find ways to cover costs.

Digging your heels in on optional services for a fee will lead to a rate increase. If I was Bioware, I would set TOR sub at $25. Why?Because all the Star Wars Fans will pay it.The other reason is this irrational resistance to the game company making money. If Bioware is smart, they will use this new game to raise the sub price point.

Actually, I love Bioware and I love SW:KOTOR and I'm looking forward to the new game. I wouldn't pay 25 dollars sub fee for a game. I've bought every game Bioware's released since Jade Empire. I buy the DLC. But a sub fee to enjoy something is not a 'permanent' gain, unlike singleplayer games. You lose everything the minute you stop paying the sub fee. 300 dollars a year on a game that, assuming you got it for free and never had to buy the actual game, and assuming there are no paid expansions, is still too much. I play other games too. I buy other games, and I play other subscription base games. Any company who is stupid enough to gouge on subscription? Isn't going to keep players. Fortunately, people can debate the quality of Bioware's games all they want, but Bioware is not stupid. They won't be charging more than WOW for each month and likely will be charging less. As far as on topic, I wouldn't be surprised if Blizzard does charge for this as a premium perk. It's just not worth it to me, personally, to pay for it.
