Some people would say that a man playing the flute is gay. I say that anyone who can do that is badass. Awesome job sir!

@ArrohonBeing gay and being badass are not mutually exclusive, no matter what the 12-year-olds on trade chat might say.
I wouldn't down vote this. His comment is accurate. There are some.

12-year-olds on trade wouldn't be able to spell 'mutually exclusive', let alone use it in a full sentence.

I played flute from 6th grade up through college, got a degree in music, and I'm not gay. The stereotype was there the entire freaking time, but it's true to a certain extent in the professional world. The odd thing is that professional flutists (there are records of a guild of professional flutists in ancient Rome going on strike) were all male, as well as all professional musicians, with very few exceptions (Clara Schumann, professional pianist mid 1800s, first name that comes to mind). Sexual orientation wasn't even a consideration in choice of instrument. If someone thought you were gay, it was because of how you behaved, not what instrument you played or vocal part you sang.Except for castrati, which the Italians loved but the English hated. Women probably loved them too, at least the ones that could work up any kind of sexual desire, since a woman couldn't get pregnant from one. But I digress.
