At the bottom of the lake surrounding that island, there's a wrecked flying machine. It doesn't really explain the scene, but it adds more to the mystery. Did she or he do the deed themselves after realizing there aren't man edible fish in Tirisfal? Did Captain Placeholder do it? We may never know.

Yes! My friend and I noticed that when we found it a few months ago, I think it's gnome-made as well? And a curiously intricate chest on the other side of the lake...
