Tier 11 normal mode raid bosses to give valor points again

For the full text of the announcement, check after the break.
Due to some recent player feedback we've made the decision to implement a hotfix that will put Valor Points back on the bosses in Blackwing Descent, Bastion of Twilight, and Throne of the Four Winds (except Argoloth).
We agreed that players should have some additional options for earning Valor Points beyond Firelands, Zandalari dungeons, and tier 11 Heroic difficulty raids. We don't want raiding guilds to feel like they have to raid Firelands AND the old raids every week, but we do want players to feel like they have some options besides running ZA/ZG over and over.
Bosses in these raids will award 35 VP on 10-player normal difficulty, and 45 VP on 25-player normal difficulty, to match the rewards currently offered for the Heroic versions of those encounters.
This change should be live within the next few hours. You can stay informed about the latest hotfixes by checking the Patch 4.2 Hotfixes article for updates: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/3019413

I am all of a sudden infused with euphoric glee that I didn't join any raids for T11 content this week. :D
The night is young and a raid reset tomorrow!
Skyrei Jul 19th 2011 2:17AM
I'm confused...
You're happy you didn't join any raids this raid week because you get VP for the same raids next raid week?
While i am all for another way of getting VP, this seems silly. Like the mass of people who recently geared up through JP and T10 raids are now screaming "No more JP, VP now plz!"
Skyrei Jul 19th 2011 2:19AM
Tier 11*
Turtell Jul 19th 2011 4:10AM
No this is like the mass of people who geared up through running heroics for JP, then ran ZA/ZG over and over and over and over and over and over again... then ran it again.... saying, "Holy marzapan, it'd be swell if I had a way to reduce the number of times I have to run these effing troll dungeons."
It felt a little premature to completely remove vp rewards from T11.
Ixistant Jul 19th 2011 6:50AM
@Skyrei He's saying he's glas he didn't join any T10 raids this week as he will be able to run them today and get VP before the reset whereas if he'd already ran them he wouldn't have gotten any VP from T10 raids this week. Perfectly easy to understand.

Today, logic has occurred at Blizzard.

Shhh, don't jinx it, they're gonna hear you!

Fantastic news - sooo sick of the Zandalaris that I've just not been bothering for the last couple of weeks. I know people will moan about this, catering to casuals etc. but for me it's nothing but good news.
You'll find me on trade LFG T11 Raid.

This is good news. Back in Wrath we had quite a few dungeons to trawl for our end-of-dungeon badges ... which is rather more than two. I'm liking the Molten Front, but I'd *love* new dungeons right about now.

Now how about we get Justice Points if we are already capped for Tier 12 bosses.
Nyold Jul 18th 2011 11:33PM
Sorry, but I don't get the reasoning behind this. No I'm not being elitist, I'm not even that well-geared and I'm not even doing firelands. But I thought the agreement from the start (meaning when Cata was in beta) was that:
Valor Points: cutting edge content
Justine Points: obsolete content
And T11 normal mode raid would be considered obsolete because you can outgear it with vendor rewards and what not. I do think it sucks that I can only attain so many valor points per week, but that's the price I pay for not being able to raid regularly given my schedule. But that's also how it's always been. In Wrath, I couldn't get emblem of frost when ICC was current, or emblem of triumph when TOC was current, etc. I thought it was sensible and fair. Could anyone explain why they decided to do this other than just "caving in" to vocal playerbase?
mikephoenix Jul 18th 2011 11:38PM
because right now your options for VP are either get into a decent guild and raid firelands or run THE SAME TWO dungeons over and over and over and over and over and over........it gives us a lil more to do than ZA and ZA if you dont have the schedule for raiding
darkravenna Jul 18th 2011 11:40PM
Following that logic, ZA/ZG runs shouldn't reward Valor Points, being ilevel 353 and all...
GhostWhoWalks Jul 19th 2011 12:24AM
They likely wouldn't even consider this if players had more heroics to choose from. Which we don't. Even when ICC was current, you could still scrape together some Frost Emblems by running your daily heroic random, and with 14 different heroics that could come up you had a lot of variety. Right now, if you don't raid but still want VP, you need to run ZA and ZG...over and over and over again. To hit my cap, I do 4 Zandalari heroics and 6 Cataclysm heroics each week just so I'm not fighting the same bosses repeatedly.
Personally? I would actually prefer that they just add more heroics; the Dungeon Finder is a useful tool and takes the stress out of forming your group. But I'll take this instead just so I get an alternative for when I'm sick of Zandalari runs.
SR Jul 19th 2011 12:28AM
Not to mention... "Most recent tier" logic would've worked out perfectly if people could get a decent chunk of VPs from doing Firelands, but unless you fully clear it, you won't get capped.
140x7=980, which means for players to get fully capped on VPs on raids alone, we'd have to do a full clear of the place. Take Raggy out if we include Occu'thar.
Previous tier, we had 12 bosses, in which we had 140x12= 1480 possible VPs from a full-clear. That's a lot more points and a lot less Zul'Grinding.
Not to mention, 2 new dungeons that we run over and over and over and over... Yeah. And I thought Trial of Champions/Forge of Souls/Pit of Saron/Halls of Reflection grindfest got old fast.
SR Jul 19th 2011 12:30AM
I'd gladly run some of the current "regular" heroics if they gave out more VPs, and in return, had higher difficulty/353 gear. Hell, I do that on my alts just because I've been SO BURNT OUT on seeing nothing but green and tusks and Jamaican accents.
SR Jul 19th 2011 12:34AM
Er, sorry. 140x12=1680. I need to sleep.
cloudhopper013 Jul 19th 2011 12:51AM
Pfft, who needs justine points? I prefer Helen points. Or perhaps Gertrude points. Those are where it's at.
Turtell Jul 19th 2011 4:19AM
Cloudhopper gets +15 Gertrude points
